My domain listing from a few years back sold via Godaddy Auctions. The problem is, I haven't been a member for a year, maybe more. The domain sold for a lousy $xx figure, which I would have been okay with, but am not ok with now because of all the renewal fees I paid since then. Aren't the Godaddy listings supposed to be cancelled automatically once your membership expires? :td:

If you no longer wish to sell a domain, it's up to you to delete your sales listings because Go Daddy won't do it, even if you are no longer a member. You may be on the hook for this sale. You could walk away, I suppose, but think about this from the buyer's perspective.

There are waaay too many ghost listings out there.

I don't think the OP wants out of the sale. I think he has just realized that Godaddy has been charging him ($5/yr?) for several years for TDNAM membership without his knowledge. That happened to me a few years ago. I caught it on my bill, called and really unloaded on some poor cubicle dweller over there. Turns out that TDNAM memberships are set to auto-renew unless you find and disconnect them first. Not a legit business practice, IMHO.

You could try calling them, the guy removed the charge for me, although I caught it pretty quickly.

There was a domain of mine listed for sale at GD with a BIN, and that was while my domain was with them. I couldn't list it with GD at all. This was a while back. I did contact GD at the time, and they said I should contact the previous owner, because of some story about the listing-can't remember. They couldn't do anything, but assured me that it couldn't be sold because I'm a different owner. I couldn't get a hold of him to remove that listing... but it was corrected in due time.

So "what if" someone had clicked buy that time for my domain? It was probably a mistake on the previous owners side leaving that listing up like that- but it wouldn't be fair for him to face any issues at GD for not completing the sale, because he wasn't in possession of the name anymore. He was not the owner.

If the domain is not with GD anymore, then you could just say that you sold the name a while ago.

You could contact GD and ask them why your domain remained listed despite you having discontinued your membership. It's a totally valid argument and quite understandable from your POV. Tell them, it was not supposed to be listed at GD as it is your understanding that since you were no longer an auction member for quite some time, that all your listings would automatically be cancelled. You could ask them why this has not happened.. ask them to explain! Throw a tantrum if you must. :guilty: Perhaps it's something that needs to be brought to their attention. Who knows?

Throw a tantrum if you must.

 you're the best NS

The support staff told me the listings don't expire automatically and it's the seller's responsibility to remove them... I told them I tried that once but it may have been during the site's makeover and it displayed a message saying I have to be an auctions member first. I figured that if I can't remove them, I probably can't sell them, and left it at that. I was wrong.

No reply from the support team yet as it's the weekend. But I don't really have high hopes. Long story short, I'm going to go through with the sale and take this as a lesson learned. Remove your listings before your auctions membership expires. :bah:
