Yes, that is the main part of what domainers here do, a few do try to develop but if you have ever seen some of my pathetic offerings you will see that they are not much at all for the most part lol

Though some are really good at it ;)

I thnk when someone wants a domain they do not want a site on it, they want to start with a clean slate and take it in whatever direction they want.

hi dan6489

it sounds like you have the idea of 'domain flipping'. if you do a general search on this term you will see how popular this business is.

when people do this they get the domain then carry out search engine optimisation to make it more valuable then sell in on. this process involves amongst other things, link building, in which there are various ways of doing (another subject in itself).

the turn-around time for this can be 1 week, 1 month, 6 months or whatever you like. the longer you spend developing the domain the more valuable it is likely to get.

the buyer then uses it for their own business taking advantage of the existing back links and traffic the domain already has

i strongly suggest you read as much as possible on this forum before buying domain names and trying to flip them.

its a very long process that takes a while to understand - good luck

Yeah, there are many webmasters here selling and buying domains (without any content)..
Try to look at marketplace and auctions here at namepros and see.

Yes, it is possible to be profitable to sell just the domain without developing it, however, development will generally add more value to the name (especially to end users) so while it's not necessary it will likely make your sales price higher. There are nearly 4 million posts here and it is an information goldmine so just take your time and read as much as you can before you start buying. If you don't do your studying first then you will waste your money and time buying domains that no one wants.

#1: Read and learn as much as you can in the business (You're definitely at the right place to learn!).

#2: Once you feel comfortable....then take ACTION, ACTION, ACTION. ;)

If, for example, someone wants the content to come with the domain - how much would people charge for the content generally? Say, as Sparhawke says, if it is nothing special, just your own design, simple html and opensource scripts, some text, creative commons pictures and so on, but still developed to an extent. How much should you price your work that was involved in this content?
