I usually don't deal with domain brokers, not only are they way overpriced but their a headache that I prefer to do without.
So last week I receive a $1200 offer for a firearm domain, Through normal negotiations between buyer and myself and considering the domain, I feel I can probably get over 5K for it.
But the offer was initiated through Godaddy and it's going through SedoMLS, not sure how SedoMLS picked it up since I never listed it with Sedo MLS... At any rate, Sedo is acting as broker and they do NOT allow any communication with the buyer whatsoever, I cant even cancel the transaction without making a counter offer first.. Your asking; "Why don't I counter offer?" Several reasons, they want me to enter into a 7 day contract and I would have to pay them 20%, of the sale price, which is outrageous considering the service they provide, which for the most part is automated.
If I were to run this through Escrow.com like I always do, the escrow fee would be less than 4% and split between buyer/seller.. If I were to mark the price up over and above my $5K goal to cover the escrow fee, I run the risk of losing the sale.
Pretend for a moment your not desperate, not in dire straits, but you want to make the sale, would you make a counter offer OR wait until the buyer goes to your parked page and uses the contact form (or Whois) to contact you directly?
OH, I almost forgot; amazingly the domain is listed in Godaddy's auction, by NO authorization by me, and I never once listed it at Godaddy, So how can they attempt to sell a domain that isn't theirs for whatever price it sells for?.. Makes no sense.
