Just received the spam below. Appears to be a new 1 going about. Carried out a quick search on google and only 4 or 5 responses for the email address. Anyway be vigilant.

From: [email protected] <[email protected]>
Subject: domain.com (modified but this will match your domain)
Message

Hello,
I am interested in purchasing this domain name (not the website content, only the domain).
If you are open to selling please let me know ASAP and I will submit my best offer.
Thanks for your time,
Steve Johnson ([email protected])

Notice the email it was sent from was actually [email protected]. The email address this was sent too is only used on my whois.

I guess the account was disabled after too many spam reports.

Watch out for stevesplace48. Not sure what is the fuss about obvious spam emails. Not newsworthy.

Wow..I am usually very good at picking these scams out. I received one from mikesbikes today too. Unfortunately, I replied before I researched (I NEVER do that!!!). Damn. Anyway, not sure what harm can come from it? My info was found via whois, so it is obvious my e-mail is valid. Not sure the point here..... any ideas?

I got one from Mike today, on an expiring name. I can't see the angle either, unless the point is to get people to pony up $90 to renew their Godaddy domain.

Except for automated email return address and the "ASAP," I might have taken it seriously.

Interesting - the one I got was for a name that just went into redemption... but not at Godaddy.

Thank you for this. I got one today as well and almost fell for it if it were for your post here. Mine is a bit different, as others have reported as well - the spammer's email address is [email protected] "Mike Howard".
