So I JUST bought a domain for over a 2000 bucks. For me it was worth 500, and that was my budget.
OK call me stupid, but guy tried to snipe it before 10 seconds and I had bid higher just in case, and then it went on a bidding war.

It is a country level TLD with over 2 million searches volume for the exact keyword, (but extremely low CPC-4-5 cents).
It is very very very short and and exact match abbreviation. The abbreviation is also the searched term. A company with a Brand+keyword.com recently raised 10 million round.

This is not a .com but it is specific to the country where this keyword is super popular. I have the resources to compete, IF, I want to.
And now I have the domain.

But it would be a new business, new hassle, new team, new bandwidth,

My question is, if I don't want to develop the domain, will it store "Domain Value" that I could flip for 4 figures later? Being that the second bidder was willing to bid $5 less than my price :)

Thanks for your help.
I am an affiliate SEO trying to figure out domaining, because I actually enjoy looking for domain names.. :(
Been pouring over domains on my laptop for hours these past few weeks. Bought 100s, probably all junk...

I am 100% confident I can flip the domain for 10K in a year if I develop it with a couple of VAs. But my question is from a domaining angle

That question on building value really depends on the product or industry. I picked up a domain for just over $100 recently but it previously sold for $13k a decade ago.
