Anybody has information about how to lease a domain?
How the domain is controlled and legal stuff?

Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks.

huh, are you going to lease a domain?

or is somebody asking you to lease a domain you own.

i think it is tricky biss.

someone is investing a lot of time and money in the name if one party say thanks but no thanks the other party lose everything.

including visitors and emailadress etc etc

imho i never want to lease a domain

I agree with piet. Setting up a lease would be expensive and risky.

Unless I was being offered substantial revenues I don't think I would consider leasing any of my domains.

Thanks for the reply.

Somebody want to lease a domain from me. Except it will involve some extra work, what is the risk I will be taking, assuming I sitll have the full control of my domain. Can they eventually sue for the domain?

Hi 3par. Without a well written contract, anything is possible. The lessee may cause 'damage' to your domain name by (as an example) spamming.

You'd need to ensure you had prior legal advice (expensive). Unless the potential lease arrangement potentially brings in a significant revenue to you I would reject this proposal.

you wont have a risk in my opinion.

for example;

i lease a domain from you i am the person who have to invest in the site.
you are the person who wil get a payment per .....
let say i invest $ 20.000 for making my site and get traffic to it and .......
i have my biss card and all other paper with my bissname and domainname.
all my emailadresses wil be distributed.

now i get a problem with you and you say your loss i dont lease the domain to you anymore.

who is the winner and who is the losser.

i would have a big problem now how do i get al the visitors back to another site
how wil i get all my emails
think about it.

for you the only risk is getting paid.

for me there is a lot more to lose.

if i would ben you i consider it with my potential lease partner.
explain the problems who possible can rise.

get a good sellingprice is beter for both partys. imho

leasing is never a great idea though if you know the person well then it can be a very good idea; almost as a co-partrnership!

Put it in writing and have it reviewed by legal counsel.
