Hello,

I'm watching a domain name that has been in pending delete status for over 8 days. I signed up with SnapNames, Pool and NameJet and backordered it from all 3 sites. There has been no action from SnapNames and Pool - on NameJet, there was escalated backorder bidding, and now it's gone into a 3-day auction. However, the status is still (somewhat) unchanged.

Can someone tell me by looking at the WHOIS what exactly is happening to this domain? I am utterly confused at this point and need the domain for our company :).

Many thanks in advance - WHOIS data below.

He he, that's Network Solutions for you.

The domain name is actually still expired. Just backorder with NameJet because they're NS' exclusive partner for that purpose.

It should start now, though, so check the status at NameJet. If the name has not been transferred to anyone in the next few days, then something's up.

Many thanks Dan! I'm actually the high bidder on the NameJet private auction for the domain - does that mean if at the end of the auction I win the auction, I get the domain?

Yes. Network Solutions expired domains go through NameJet.
If the domain has more than (1) bidder it goes to private 3 day auction. High bidder wins and receives the domain.

I disagree with Dave. Both the Registry and Registrar expiry dates have been extended. So this domain has been renewed. This is a Pre-Release Auction, not a Pending Delete Auction. So your comment about 8 days in Pending Delete Status is incorrect. Domains only go into Pending Delete Status 75 days after expiry for 6 days. This domain hasn't reached that age yet. Which is why I know it's a Pre-Release Auction. So if you are the top bidder you will win this domain, unless the original owner renews the domain and pays NetSol their Redemption Fee.

Which happens all the time, especially if the domain goes for big bucks.

Owners often use the "expired auction" venue to get a cheap appraisal, and if the domain garners a lot of bids, the owner renews it.

So, OP, don't hold your breath.

The auction waters are filled with sharks.
