Domain Hijacked by my Registrar

Hello,
I am at my wits end with Dimereseller, who is my registrar of one of my domains. I have repeatedly asked them to change me DNS and they refuse to do it because I don't have hosting with them.

Every time I try and go do it manually, which I know very well how to change a DNS on a domain name, I keep getting "We're sorry, but an error has occured.
DNS modification error". This is when I ask them to change it.

I cannot even input my contact info regarding my domain name. I even tried transferring my domain name to another registrar but the system and the registrar will not give me the EPP code.

So, here's my question, what is my recourse. What can I do to fix this mess. I have documentation should the need arises.

Any inputs, suggestions, or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

Well, DropLister, that sucks. I'll still give it a try.

Dimereseller = GoDaddy Reseller?

The problem is that a reseller is not bound by Icann regulations, unlike fully-fledged registrars. It is one reason why resellers/go-betweens should be avoided as a rule. Perhaps you can try to bypass them and work it out with the upstream registrar - either have the registrar (GD or other) repatriate the name or transfer away.

wow..I didn't know a reseller can act like that. Seems like a really desperate attempt. You should leave a honest review about them so that other people won't get the same prob.

Move all of them

I would move all the domains from them to Godaddy once you get Godaddy to look into the situation.

I just got off the phone with GoDaddy and they said that Dimereseller.com isn't one of their resellers. So, I'm back to square one. Dimereller.com told me that they can only change DNS for cutomers that have hosting with them. So, I told them what kind of Bull Shit is that.

Not only do I feel they have hijacked my domain but now I am being held hostage and being bribed by needing a hosting account. WOW, that's pretty pathetic.

I may have to breakdown and get one month worth of cheap hosting to get my domain out of there.

Be forewarned. DO NOT USE DIMERESELLER.COM to register your domains.

Where can I post my disgust with this registrar that can give me the most impact against dimereseller.com

What makes you think they will let you transfer it away, or change name severs to another host, once they have you paying for hosting too?

You could try sending a fax and/or mail them a letter explaining the problem and see if that works.

But I'd probably track down their upstream registrar if they are a reseller and complain to them and use the report links above personally.

Their website is using godaddy nameservers and it's IP is owned by someone called Rover-Host.com ... so you could complain to them too if you think it's an outright scam situation. And [email protected] might at least help you track down who they are reselling for.

I'd direct them to this thread. They're worried about business, tell them to think about this cached on Google forever.

From their website
We never register your domain names under our profile like most hosting companies do. You will have full support for domain registration, renewal, transfer and management. You can maintain your own domain names while never leaving this site. You will have 100% real domain management via your customer area.

Register as many domain names as you need with your single account.

Dimereseller... That name alone scares me off.

Just out of curiosity, did you actually talk to them on the phone? It's a lot harder to give you the run around when you're talking directly with them. If you haven't, call them and don't let them hang up until you have a resolution.

How about selling your domain to yourself (from a different registrar) so you can get the hell out of there?

By the way, I read their Terms Of Service, everything written there are geared towards "web hosting". No rules on domains only.
