Who hijacked my domain name?

I have a domain name with Go Daddy, and I forwarded it to a sedo sale page (not parked). I used GoDaddy's 'hosting' DNS servers by mistake, rather than the parking ones. Somehow though in lieu of me having subscribed for hosting, it doesn't go to a GoDaddy parked page, but to some random parking page in the sky: http://207.36.200.41/

That is a parking page, but not any that I recognize, not sedo, Afternic, GoDaddy. Who's trying to profit from my domain name (which enjoys, for God knows what reason) about 250 hits/month?

What's the scam there?

I changed the GoDaddy DNS servers to the parked versions hours ago, but it's still not forwarding to sedo as I've specified and confirmed accurate.

Any ideas on what's going on?

It can take a day or two for the nameservers to propagate. As long as you have the name in your godaddy account you should be fine. Just give it some time.

But how did I end up in that 'transistional' phase where someone is making money off of my domain? How did GoDaddy's name servers let that happen?

Is it a way to take advantage of people's errors, misconfiguration or confusion and pass some bucks to their buddies or something?

Your ISP's DNS may be cached.

Try accessing the domain from a different ISP or proxy.

www.dnsstuff.com is a good tool to see if your domain has propagated.

From the link you provided I don't see anybody making any money off your domain at that ip address.

I think that IP belongs to one of the GD servers. This messup happens sometimes. Ask GD to reset the ip to point it to the parked pages.
Once done, change it to sedo or whichever u wish.

yeah, it may be a default parking page that Godaddy uses for certain names. You should be fine in a day.
