Domain Appraisal: Differences Between Popular Tools

Dear Forum Members,

I would like to share a question that I have been facing in the domain evaluation field. There are three popular domain appraisal tools: Estibot, GoDaddy Valuation Tool, and NameWorth. However, I have noticed that these tools provide vastly different results, which raises the question of how we can rely on them as a trustworthy source.

Given the significant differences in their results, is there a true and accurate way to appraise domain names? Can we depend on these tools to determine the real value of a domain, or are there other criteria we should consider?

I look forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences in this area.

Thank you in advance for your help!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
They are all using their own algo and cannot give you the same results. Also domain names are illquid. Domain A is very different from domain B and the only person who can say the correct price is an actual end buyer who comes once in a blue moon.

Here is how i use tools
- Rank my names and see if I should drop some. Use the relative value to compare.
- I use Humbleworth cause its fast and free
- Look at actual keyword sales and CPC cost
- See how much other similar domains cost and similar domain availability (this is most accurate in my opinion as it puts you in the shoe of a buyer)

Hi,

I vaguely remember a paid tool that shows the list of existing websites/domains for a given keyword.

Can anybody please came across such tool, if so kindly mention that!

Thanks!

Hi

the best tool, is common sense.
another tool is patience
time, is also a tool

but with any tool, you have to know how and sometimes, when... to use it
take a yardstick for example.
most can read the big numbers on a ruler,
but it's the increments and spaces in between that space, where real information lies.

since domainers think they need tools,
then you have to assume everybody else is using the same thing that you just discovered.

but it's what each individual gets out of any tool they use.

in the end, the only tool i could ever recommend is to use your brain.

imo...

Really the only tool you need outside of experience is: ExpiredDomains.net - Great filters and it's free!

Great topic! There are so many domain appraisal tools out there, but they all seem to have their own approach. For example, tools like Estibot are great for a quick valuation, but they might not always reflect the true market demand. On the other hand, GoDaddy’s appraisal tends to focus more on past sales data, which can be useful if you're looking for trends. It really depends on what you're looking for—if you need a detailed analysis, you might want to use multiple tools to get a broader picture. Anyone have experience using these and want to share their results?

All these "tools" are useless nonsense. Some people also pay money for it...
Sometimes even comparable sales (published) will not help determine the real value of the domain.
Use your brain and logic.

i went thru all path, not avid seller. but this formula is easy for me

use paid humbleworth pricing and 10% for investment price and 15 to 20% for retail.

if they price 100K then 10k for investment and 20k max for retail.

Hi

only suckers and newbies who don't know better, pay for appraisals.
you're only giving money to the creator.

imo...
