Does reduction in NamePros thread imply domaining is dead?

When I was using NamePros a few years ago, a thread like the one I posted the other day not too many below this one), would have been pushed off the first page within a day. However, now, days later, it's less than half a page away from this new post.

What happened?

I think domainers are more under the radar and do not participate in forums as much.

true for myself as first post in a month, rewind few years ago and it was all post at forums and buy domains from domainers and sell to end users or domainers with almost end user budgets. Looked through my portfolio going from 1999-2012 and picked out a few gems and developed so now most of my time is spent running those sites. Still sell domains but don't have the promotion time I used to have as the sites are making decent coin so worth the effort. Few other names I plan on developing as well but wanna get these sites rock solid before taking on anymore. I should probably hire or take on a friend on commission basis to push the names I will never develop to end users as it will probably be a bit before I can promote the domain angle like I used to. Sure some people have quit but quite a few of us just working on projects so less time for forums. Just noticed I got star #8 this month, nice welcome back, 8 years hanging with some cool peeps.

Buy low, sell high.
Not dead, buy now if you have the money.

Like I tell the new
apprentices at Bell.. Everything worthwhile takes effort and time. People will come and go but the ones who work hard and stay get rewarded..This job is not for everyone.. Thats why its exclusive.

Things are definitely slow. There was a time, a few months ago, in which I used to sell domains through Namepros very easily. I am talking about $xxx domains. It is not happening anymore. For instance, last April, I sold three domains here for about $1000 and I am not counting a few $100 domains. But that time is gone. Just take a look at the Fixed Price section...

My end user sales are doing fine.

Auction venues like GoDaddy, NameJet, and SnapNames have lots of activity.

Domaining is not dead. Domain forums are on the decline for a number of reasons.

Okay, okay, someone need to do it.
To save domaining I would create more sale threads :)

We need to invest. Buy domains, stop to sell only!

The domaining is in crisis as domainers themselves simply do not buy domains, just are trying to sell and some are trying to sell the entire portfolio. We also did this mistake some months ago but now we are buying domains even if we are a small business project, nor even a company. Domains bought? Try whois bikeweekends.com or faxlisting.com and see when they bought it! What we sold? Nothing. We donยดt worry. Not happy but donยดt cry.

They are the right of doing that but India domainers are selling domains by $2 ... "and the world goes on forever".

1) Summer
2) Economy
3) NamePros is not king in domain forums anymore. There is another forum which use to be behind NamePros but is now ahead of them. A lot of people only have time to visit one forum and they typically claim residence with the most popular site. NamePros will rise to the top again because like everything, it cycles.

Actually, Namepros seems to be the more active forum lately, if you go by the new posts. Fewer inflated ego posts on NP, also.

A cycle of newbies pushing fresh reg's as premium domains, caused the forum to be filled with a lot of junk, anytime I posted a wanted ad, I got spammed, I got random spam from time to time, just based on messages. Nothing new, and apparent, just felt like I was wasting precious time going through a lot of bad names, so stopped checking site, as other venues bring in better return on time. Not trying to be mean, just being honest, maybe others can weigh in also.

Summer is slow but that's not the long-range problem.

a. Many of the old heavy hitters and experienced members have left to run their own blog, forums or websites or they are active at private forums and post mostly at those sites, not here or DNF.

b. Ongoing declining PPC over approx last 4 or 5 years has forced a lot of us to leave the business, reduce portfolios or participate less.

c. Increasing reg/renewal fees have hurt mid-size portfolios (who are not playing the numbers game) in particular to cut back and not as active.

d. 1000s of new tld's have many domainers questioning the business future and asking if the game is over, resulting in lower activity.

e. Domainer flipping is not as easy or lucrative vs the past causing the business in general to decline.

f. Lower SEO rankings in Google for minisites and parked pages (including recent deindexing) make traffic more difficult to get.

g. Due to the above reasons, more and more domains (including fairly good ones) are being dropped rather than renewed.
