I was reading NamePros threads today and engaging with a few, as per usual, when I came across a few talking about domain landing page issues, like: which ones are working, which ones died, ad blockers killing them, AI causing potential TM issues on landers, search engine optimization (SEO), etc...
With the above in mind and since I recently generated $100 from a NamePros landing page, I figured I would share a little about it (But not too much) to help address some of the things I've been reading about it lately on NamePros regarding landing pages.
Note/Request: I used images as to not have the domain in the examples indexed in this article. I also didn't link to any of my landing pages. Please do not post the domain name in the comments/replies. I appreciate you consideration to my request.
Many domain investors gravitate to a parking page or landing page that has some form of monetization to try and recoup those stacking renewal costs each year. Most end up using parking with PPC (Pay-Per-Click), which generates a few cents to a buck or two per click (When you're lucky and get organic traffic that converts).
How often is that in today's search engine world though?
That's not very helpful.
Over the last 2+ decades, I've tried a lot of different parking and landing pages and none of them fit the bill of customization + monetization + no duplicated (automated) content + no AI generated content that potentially leads to legal TM issues (In today's AI driven world).
The best I have found (And now use religiously), is NamePros Landing Pages.
For the sake of this NamePros landing page review, I'll use the landing page and domain that generated the $100.
Here's how the phrase worked out for me in Bing and Google:

What works for one may not work for another and vice versa.

The short and skinny
Obviously, most of our domain names sit for a while before being sold or dropped during the next portfolio purge. In that time, we all get hit with renewal costs that can sometimes become financially stressful. I know it's not practical to develop every domain in our portfolios, but landing pages give us another solution. Many domain investors gravitate to a parking page or landing page that has some form of monetization to try and recoup those stacking renewal costs each year. Harsh reality
Many (or even most) parked and landing pages have duplicated content or packed with ppc ads that cause the page to get stuck in the search engines supplemental index or penalized, never to be found in an organic search for related niche terms to the domain we wanted to sell. That's not very helpful.
The Solution (VIP and Gold Members)
Ideally, for a domain investor looking to park or land a domain, it benefits us the most to have maximum customization control over our landing pages, along with the ability to monetize them ourselves to help soak up renewal costs each year.Over the last 2+ decades, I've tried a lot of different parking and landing pages and none of them fit the bill of customization + monetization + no duplicated (automated) content + no AI generated content that potentially leads to legal TM issues (In today's AI driven world).

Here's how I generated $100 using a NP Landing page
I made sure to craft my landing page content to be 30% to 50% unique, creating a Brand Overview and Details section. The rest of the page under those is the rinse and repeat parts (E.g. Registrar, contact me, payment options, negotiation steps, add-on options and banner monetization). For the sake of this NamePros landing page review, I'll use the landing page and domain that generated the $100.
Google and Bing SERPs
The visitors I generally get using a landing page that can be indexed in search engines without being penalized or dropped into the supplemental index are from organic searches. In this case, it was from a 2-word search phrase (Confirmed by the new client that typed it and found my page) matching my domain that has the term on Page 1 in both, Bing and Google. Granted, the term isn't searched for much, maybe in the x to xx per month, but all it takes is that one person to visit and convert. Here's how the phrase worked out for me in Bing and Google:

Landing Page Banner Monetization
Now for the part you've probably been waiting for (and possibly skipped over everything else to see), how I monetized my NamePros Landing Page. It's simple, really, NamePros landers allow full customization of the description area using HTML. That means we can get pretty creative and even add images to our landers. In my case, banner ads.The Conversion
So, basically, someone did an organic search for the phrase I outlined further up in this article, landed on my page, didn't want to buy the domain name (Sadly), but had a need for a design service I offered, so they clicked the banner which took them to my service page and contacted me for a quote, which resulted in a $100 sale (E.g. conversion from a lead that came from a NamePros landing page).Thoughts
$100 isn't much, but it's going to cover a few domain name renewals for the next year, which is still a win in my book. I think I'll be exploring more ways to monetize a landing page in the future, or at a minimum, putting more domain names on NamePros landers.Questions for you
- Are you already using NamePros landing pages?
- If so, have you monetized them yet?
- If not, Why not?
What works for one may not work for another and vice versa.
Have a great domain investing adventure!
