I've seen a few LLL's in a drop list and although I didn't succeed in backordering them @ GoDaddy, it makes me wonder: What LLL's ever truly drop? I know LLL.com never drops and LLL.net might not, either. But do LLL .org .info or .biz drop? I need to know before I waste any money on possible backorders. Thanks :)

LLL.biz always drops but gets picked up just as fast.

I was thnking of backordering a few if a good one catches my eye.

I've tried backordering LLL.org but someone always beats me at GoDaddy lol But with their backordering of it, should I assume LLL.org ever drops? Or LLL.net, even?

Who said that LLL.com never drop? LLL.coms are the rarest among other LLL that drop but they do from time to time. Currently I'm in expired LLL.com auction (vbz.com) at SnapNames. also I remember at least 3 LLL.coms dropped last couple of months.

The drop rate among LLLs is totally relevant to their reseller price & value.

From lowest to highest drop rate :

LLL.com
LLL.net
LLL.org
LLL.info
LLL.biz

I've always been told that LLL.com's are never dropped but go directly to auction. But I'll keep that in mind. If anyone here sees a com/net/org drop, post in here and tell us. I'd love to see what backordes can do :)

Here is an example of LLL.com dropped this month and captured by drop catcher (SnapNames).

Nol.com (Created: 2009-03-14)

GoDaddy backorder is not a good option to capture LLL (especially LLL.com, .net, .org, .info) . any domain has been backordered on SnapNames, NameJet, Pool will have less than %0.01 chance to be captured by GoDaddy backorder. On very rare occasions, it happens. IMO

LLL.net/LLL.com/LLL.org are ALWAYS caught by auction houses who auction them off. People definitely backorder them, which would make it near impossible to catch one these days for reg fee.

My besic thought was whether any LLL domain dropped and was available for registration again opposed to domains that were simply put to auction (Example: I tried to backorder FreePasswords.info a week or so back but the domain never really dropped -- it was renewed by the registrar and put on auction).

I've had good luck with GoDaddy backorders but I'm not too sure if they'd get me a LLL. I might try it, just in case, though. It couldn't hurt.

No problem. :)

This should prove to you how powerful GoDaddy backorders. :)

My only real "good" domain acquired from them is preinstalled.com I got it for about $17 and sold it less than a day later for $175. It was worth more in my eyes but seeing my cost, I didn't wanna be greedy :D

SnapNames, Pool.com, and NameJet each individually have twenty times more juice to throw at drop-catching domains than GoDaddy does. Each of the above auction houses has partnerships with roughly 150 drop-catching registrars, whereas I think GoDaddy doesn't even top 7.

I can assure you that when an LLL.com drops, it WILL be backordered at all of (SnapNames, NameJet, and Pool.com).

Therefore, if you backorder an LLL.com at GoDaddy, the probability of your catching it:
= (Probability GD beats out SN) * (Probability GD beats out NJ) * (Probability GD beats out Pool.com)
= 0.05 * 0.05 * 0.05
= 0.000125
= 0.0125%, or 1 in 8000
...in reality though it's probably much less because other drop-catching forces such as BuyDomains.com, DomainMarket.com, The SN/eNom tasters, and private drop-catchers attempt to snatch LLL.com's the moment they drop as well.

Of course, it's possible to catch many solid dropping domains with a GD backorder. I've sold a couple for $XXXX myself. But you either need to be a programmer or have the eyes of a hawk to find one so underrated.
