In domain tutorials is written that don't get domains with hyphen, but do all hyphenated domains are bad?

For marketing purposes, hence for end users, they are definitely bad.

However old dropped hyphenated domains sometimes have good backlinks, thus are good for SEO purposes.

Generally, it's preferable not to have a hyphen in the name.

Having said that not all of them are worthless. I do not like hyphenated names, but if, just an example, video-games.com drops tomorrow, I would register it immediately.

In most cases, offering a hyphenated name to end-users is a waste of time.

German folks are quite fond of the hyphen for one reason or another. Don't own any but if the keywords are good enough, would definitely reg/buy one. Not after them, though...

Germany is the exception to the rule of staying away from hyphens.

If you are trying to sell a hypenated domain in America, you can forget about it.

But as Drew Rosser said on Domain Sherpa a couple weeks ago, in Germany, it's like some people almost prefer the hyphen. My German friend told me that he thinks that Germans just love to see that separation between the two words.

Notice that most of the hyphenated sales @frank-germany posted were via Sedo. It makes sense because Sedo is the most popular domain marketplace in Germany (again, I got that info from a German friend)

Surely if a domain sells for, let's say $50k, $80k, $100k etc, a hyphenated version cannot simply be worth a few hundred or even a few thousand, it's just too big a disparity !?

Ok, it's not going to be worth anywhere near what the unhyphenated version sold for but it must surely still have a significant value, not least to the end user, if indeed there is one of the unhyphenated version !!?

Before registering this domain I thought "Would not it be this an error as i know that hyphenated domains = bad".
I contacted Domain Holdings that to sell it after registration but not received an answer.
How brokers see on such kind of domains?

The problem is that it's a .net domain AND it has a hyphen.
TravelGlobe.com is hugely brandable, travel-globe.net must less.
When was the last time a .net sold for big bucks ? I mean at least 5 figures. Doesn't happen often.
