This thread came about because of another thread I have open where someone suggested I subscribe to DNOA.org so that I can get free WHOIS privacy. But I was unable to find this as one of the listed members perks on the DNOA.org's website (it's probably there I just can't seem to find it) [See EDIT Below]

Also I am confused how this works, can someone please educate me on how I can get Free WHOIS Privacy if I am a member of DNOA.org and my domains are registered thru GoDaddy.com ?
What would i need to tell GoDaddy inorder for them to transfer the WHOIS info to DNOA.org?

Thanks in advance,

EDIT: After further review it looks like DNOA has removed this from their site as one of the benefits. I did a quick google search and it showed that this members benefits page should mention the free WHOIS service BUT IT DOESN'T. So I viewed the google cached version and sure enough it's says in there:
Free WHOIS Privacy Services

Protect your privacy while maintaining your certified seller status. Verified members of our association may use the "Domain Name Owners" name and mailing address in their WHOIS records at any domain name registrar. Your private WHOIS email address can be linked to your profile so prospective buyers can verify your positive seller status.
Hmm, has DNOA.org done away with Free WHOIS ?

The decision was taken that the service should be removed. The decision was made because of the potential abuse that could be carried out and DNOA's name would be all over it.

For example if someone regged a trademark name or a domain that was for phishing and used the DNOA whois privacy to hide who they were then DNOA would receive a negative reputation because of it.

Another problem that was encountered by some users was when the registerfly situation happened. The user in question used the DNOA privacy but for some reason the domain was not listed under their name in registerfly. When it became time for GoDaddy to take over the domain name they did not know who owned it, if it were not for the owner finding a cached version of the whois then they may well have lost the domain name as there would have been no way to prove ownership (essentially DNOA would have owned it as it's details were in the whois.

So the long and short is... no more Free WHOIS Privacy for DNOA members?

Not as things stand. It could be too damaging for DNOA to continue to offer the service.
