Hi

I have recently bought a domain from domain.com. I forgot to buy whois privacy, so i bought it 15 minutes after. But my information is already cached in the who.is whois history. How do I get it removed? Do I just drop the domain? The domain really needs whois privacy. Has this happened to any of you before? What should I do?

Thanks!

Deleting the domain won't do anything for you. After a few hours the Who.is record will update with the privacy information, and nobody will see your details unless they have a DomainTools account and can see the WHOIS history (assuming the info got cached there before privacy was turned on).

Hey, thanks for replying

Right now the information is in who.is whois history.
I was just wondering maybe dropping the domain or requesting a refund, maybe on the amount I paid on whois privacy or both because the domain lost its purpose with the whois information being available and I dont think i'll be able to use it. What do you think?

Thanks!

I don't know about Domain.com, but most registrars will give you a full refund if it is with five days of registration. If you need it to be impossible to find out who owns the domain without a court order, then yea, I would probably request a refund because chances are DomainTools will have cached it into their WHOIS history product. But if you just need it to not be easy to find, then I think you're fine because the WHOIS will eventually update and only show the privacy details.

Yes, domain.com doesn't I requested a refund but they dont do refunds... The problem is that who.is only updates if there is a change in details, right now it's showing 2 raw registrar information. The old one and the one with the privacy. The only way to get the one removed with my info is to make a change to overwrite, but there is no way to make a change when I have whois privacy on. Unless I turn it off because I cant change whois privacy information. So im not sure what to do now..
Thanks again! :)
