I sold 2 domains on DN.com last Wednesday. I pushed the domains and the buyer confirmed the transaction. I immediately created a 'withdrawal' request to paypal for an amount under $1K, I figured I'll let the rest of the money stay there for now since they don't transfer to paypal amounts over 1K.
Well, Monday is almost over and nothing...
No replies to tickets either.
Did I just get scammed???

Guys need your help!
How add funds via paypal on my DN.com account?
I see page "Add deposit", but there are no fields or buttons, only info.

More info:
Note: If you prefer to pay through PayPal, the maximum sum can not exceed USD1000.00, and you have to add 5% extra fees

PayPal Account: [email protected]

I'm not sure I understand what you expect them to do about this.

DN.com has the option of putting the domain in escrow. If you're going to use them again, then that's the best way to go because you just have to deliver the domain to DN.com and then you're done. They take care of getting the domain to the customer.

Thanks for the info about the escrow.

I expect them to do as Escrow.com does. If you email Escrow, they would change the transaction's status to something like "buyer receives the domain names and the inspection period begins." If the buyer doesn't reject or accept afterward, the transaction will be closed and fund is released.

They only do that AFTER the buyer accepts the domain. They would never do that just because you initiated a push because until the buyer accepts the domain it into his account, you can still cancel it.

I've used them in the past and have been paid, but DN recently passed a policy where they require photo ID from their customers so that's going to mean the end of me doing business with them. There's no way I'm opening myself up to identity theft by entrusting my ID to a company located in the world's center for hackers and cyber criminals.

So if I receive funds and refuse to upload my ID my monies will be stuck? As far as I can see there is no Photo ID required to start a transaction. I got a chinese guy wanting to use DN and DN only (he is not comfortable with Escrow.com lol)... Just have a bad feeling for some reason... Advice?

I don't know the answer to that, but it turns out that the email they sent me about the new ID requirement was also posted on this forum here:

Maybe you can contact DN's rep Cybthia via PM and get an answer to your question.

^ Thank you! I have sent her a message, it's just a small transaction so that would probably be a deal breaker for me if there is no way around this.

Good luck with it. It might be useful for everyone here to know what she tells you in the event that they find themselves in a similar situation so if you don't mind sharing I'm sure it would be appreciated by all.

Sure :).

Hello Toni. Before 19th Oct., if your whois information remains unchanged for more than 3 months. And your register information at DN.com go exactly the same with your whois information. You may not to send your ID. If you have more questions, please let me know.

Thanks,
Cynthia

You actually make a very good point. If all that is required to prove identity is a scan of a photo ID, then once you produce that scan anybody can use that scan to claim that they are you. Makes all other security features on a passport and driving license completely redundant.

Don't forget ~$50 fee to withdraw fund to a U.S. bank. Banks in China and U.S. fees combined. Personally, I withdrew twice. Bank in China charged $33 and my bank in U.S. charged $15 for each withdrawal regardless of the amount.

Did you all get their email yesterday about how they "have received massive ID submissions"?

I'm sure all their data is stored on highly encrypted air gapped computers. :lookaround:

You sound skeptical. What part of sending your ID to a company located within a country that turns a blind eye to all forms of cyber crime seems like a bad idea to you?

I will share the experience:

I have a certified account. On October 19 I sold the domain through dn.com and the buyer transferred money for my account, I at once drew withdrawal of money from my account dn.com on my bank account.

Today on October 28, and the status of payment in dn.com still such - waiting for processing...

I wrote them to support 2 times, all the time the answer such - excuse for a delay, your payment in waiting list for processing.

Not my first sale through dn.com - in the summer I sold it and brought money through them to the same bank account and payment processed in 1 day. Now I wait nearly 10 days and anything... In what problem support can't explain.

Who faced such problem?

All these red flags make me think of a ponzi scheme.

I didn't understand you
They are holding your money for some arbitrary reason. Your story makes me believe they are running a ponzi scheme.

PONZI SCHEME
noun
  1. a form of fraud in which belief in the success of a nonexistent enterprise is fostered by the payment of quick returns to the first investors from money invested by later investors.
An example of a ponzi scheme would be when, a company spends money coming in, instead of paying their clients, then has to wait to repay those clients until more money comes in.

You are perhaps right. But that domain which I sold I had more than three years and I bought it through Sedo and I have an invoice confirming it. But it is quite possible that you are right since the buyer had no account on dn.com before and they check it for a fraud...

Hurrah, today I received the letter from dn.com:
We are pleased to inform you that the wire transfer of Withdrawal #**** has been sent.

The reason of a delay of payment wasn't explained.

Cynthia hasn't posted on this thread to help anyone!

She is busy starting threads like"
Why Domainers Pay Great Attention on Reserved .xyz Name Action?"

I would stay away from DN.com if I was you guys. Their site is down right now too.
Too many problems, very little support, staff is busy on NP hyping extensions.

Just use escrow.com
save yourself the headaches. Sending a copy of your passport is just crazy.
