Wonder how much they've spent marketing .fun? I imagine far more than they've recouped in registration fees. This is the .fun graph so far - they haven't even sold 5000 domains yet and the graph is already plateauing - and we're only a couple of weeks into this launch:

It really is because they secured too many keywords and stuck them with super high price and renewal.

The real value are the ones registered by domainers that in the aftermarket don't have high renewals . They are out there .

Radix did miss some . Believe me.

In plain logic,

Radix has created the .Fun extension and had reserved every keyword that sold in dotCom in the past for $xx,xxx and up.(bad move but ok?)

Say 1 million super premium keywords vs. the 5000 mentioned in the chart .

Is it really a surprise? These 5000 if some are one of the "big money" words ? And their renewals are $19-$24?

Good investment.

OnlineCasino.fun

If this was "out in the open"

Would you care it cost $24 a year?

Unfortunately it's taken by radix. So move on to the next two word combo similar in price to onlinecasino

Is that so hard?

Oh I'm sorry if you can't get Casino.fun or games.fun

It's not a plateau it's just domainers who see thee obstacle of "radix owns all the good keywords" and quit.

If a keyword in dotCom sold for $100k don't go thinking you'll get that amount . Go in realistically getting 10% of that ($10k).

someone registered that name

www.darleneshighendresaleboutique.fun

here is an end user for sure:)

Hahahahahahajahahahahahahaha

Radix reserved Travel.fun

Buy now and renewals! $7000/year oh no!

Lol

Don't fret. Don't sweat.

Just hack it.

TRVL.FUN

Just check out TRVL in King.

Trvl vs. travel?
Brandable?

Travel 6 letters
Trvl 4 letters

Short is better.

when thinking of .fun I tried to be generic and focus on dating niche.

Muslim.fun
and
Christian.fun

even Islam.fun is taken.

both big niches in dating.

Radix secured these names and put a price and matching renewal of $3250 a year.

but Muslims.fun and Christians.fun were available. Islams.fun would not sound right.

What Muslim doesn't want to have fun?
What Christian doesn't want to have fun?

These 2 domains I'll sign up for affiliate programs like.
www.christianconnection.com
www.christianmingle.com/
www.muslima.com
www.muslimmingle.com

set up an hosted site. sign up for a bunch of affiliate programs for each. add url redirect code. redirect the domain to 5 dating site affiliae programs on rotation.

pay for Press Release for each. set and forget.

I do not see .fun is directly related to dating.. muslim.fun does not indicate muslim dating...

As the saying goes.
"Nothing worthwhile is ever easy."

Did a check for highest sold 3-4 letter domains and there were some great gems. I grabbed most. Left a few for the rest.

(Just check the .Coms on Namebio)
Lawn.fun
Gab.fun
Werk.fun
Joe.fun

You can even try highest 5L sales in .Com
Or even 6L .Coms

Take your pick.

Abbreviations are good bets too.

Looks like many domainers have secured TM issue 3 letter .Fun abbreviations.

Good luck to them. Like ABC.FUN

ABC American channel.

I think BMW secured their .Fun for brand protection. But I can see them using BMW.fun in a future commercial.

Plus the main problem with abbreviations is that it's mixed used possibilities.

Each letter can stand for something just look in the dictionary.

I don't think .fun has much of a future other than a few niche sales.

If i am to discuss anything it is the lack of commercial value of the extension over other gTLDs

If you're asking - look at this - link :xf.smile:
Unnecessary renewal culls is tough for me. I am dropping stuff of low value trying to fine tune then someone is doing stuff like that. The only real problem is the average credibility goes down as this forum is supposed to represent professionals.

who registered funfunfunfunfunfunfunfunfunfunfunfunfunfunfunfunfunfunfunfunfun.fun ?

Someone with more money than sense.

Someone who now has obviously more 'fun' than you.
I am sure this funnyyy domain will turn into a moneyyy domain.

maybe you buy 21x.fun , so it will be a good shortcut for this domain:)

Would be a good shortcut, yes.
But the reality is, that it's also very easy to type in 'fun', to copy it and to simply paste = add it 20 times to let it then end with .fun.
It's a 'characteristical' point of this domain's 'handling' and I think the future buyer / owner of it will not have problems with it.
Also, at the end it's the highest .fun domain - so a bit effort is ok ;)

I think anything more than twice the fun is to much fun.
