quick question to all. Does Icann allow registries the right to reserve more domains for itself after the open registration has started?

I don't know but I paused before regging "SpringBreak.fun" it was available. I had to do stuff for family. you know "life"

hours later. tried to reg it was taken and it was reserved by Radix with a sticker price of $6,500 a year!

now to be fair. I don't remember if I looked for this domain via my registrar or Whois.com

FYI: Whois.com tends to show domains that are NOT registered by us domainers yet as $14.98 via registering thru whois. but as soon as you check it.

it shows the REAL price for registering a RESERVED .fun which is super high.

so maybe SpringBreak.fun was already registered?

or does anyone suspect like I do that there is some Frontrunning going on between Whois.com and Radix?

Is whois.com spoon feeding what domainers are looking for in .fun?

It's happened a few times.

another question is. Does anyone know the procedure with registries when it comes to new TLD's?

Do they actively reach out to TM holders to register their TM in their new TLD?

and legally if they don't do they forfeit their rights if someone else does?

remember .sucks? for $2000/year each?

snapchat for messengers is like .fun for domain extensions

speaking of which someone in Dubai registered SnapChat.fun

That's rather BOLD! lol

and Snap.fun is reserved by Radix.

also Target.fun
and
Match.fun

radix seems to be in the habit of reserving GENERIC domains even if the Word most definitely HAS been TM.

I wonder ...... are Registries excluded from any URDP for reserving TM issue domains for themselves and then trying to profit from it by slapping a $14,000 price tag and yearly renewal for it?

Someone who now has obviously more 'fun' than you.
I am sure this funnyyy domain will turn into a moneyyy domain.
Someone with more money than sense.

I use to think that such domains were ridiculous. but the fact that whenever we see such domains. WE TALK ABOUT IT.

and most important MENTION IT.

let's be honest. how many of us secret want people to TALK about our own domains?

as I've said before repeatedly. There is no such thing as Bad Publicity. Thee only Bad Publicitiy is NO PUBLICITY.

if no one is talking about you. then you are nobody.

Notoriety has it's benefits. sometimes. It's genius really. but I'm not that Bold to try it. lol

u think it might be a good idea to develop UAE.FUN ? will the domain be a good advantage?

if the website attracts good visitors, then it will much easier to sell...

You know when you start thinking about development, you feel that .com is safer:(

Do you have money for it?
Can you do it yourself?

Here's an idea.

Check out ifttt.com

It's a free service ( I think)

Allows you to create a mash up of RSS feeds and put it in anything like a blog or Twitter feed or Instagram or Facebook.

Or your own site.

Great way to "set it and forget it"

Next find sites about UAE like news sites or travel sites that have RSS feeds of their content. Ask permission to use.

Add ads.

And created social network handles for it.

Repeat for Emirates.fun

GL!

Another idea.
Get on LinkedIn see if you get connected with the king of UAE or Dubai.

See if you can get funding to develop the domain.

.fun is gimmicky enough.

Would be great marketing for UAE.

The King might like it.

Just ask a good salary for yourself to develop. Like $100k a year? $250k

Lol

lol thanks! not many would be in agreement with you on that one. but seriously.

if you are lucky to grab a good Geo.fun ($3,500/yr) contact the tourism board of that Geo and ask them if they wanna brand under .fun in fact tell them you'll develop for them on their dime.

I have a few myself like

Riviera.fun (could have gotten the Italian or French + Riviera but I felt stick with single word .fun.)

oh by the way.

For.Fun $14K yearly! Damn you Radix! lol jk jk

so info on Geo .fun's

Lololol

Update. Seems as though China has taken a real liking to .Fun

Many 4N.funs and Chinese pinyins in .Fun being registered.

Gamblers or is there perhaps practical use for it in China like .Xyz?

Does Fun Mean anything in China ( Mandarin and Cantonese and other dialects)

I know beef chow fun. Love that stuff with hot oil and black bean sauce!

But anything else?

Here do a test try to whois these combos

L+ai.fun

= Input all letters for L

Cai
Dai
Wai
Pai
Lai
Tai
Bai
Zai

Some aren't taken but many are.

Like

Gua.fun
Chow.fun
Aiai.fun

If .Fun gets accepted into China like .Xyz and
.Club?
