I have recently read that the drone industry is trying to change the word "drone" to something different.

The word "drone" has a very bad rep. for obvious reasons.

What do you think will happen with the word "drone" and drone domain names?

Is it worth it to let many of your less impressive names lapse, and then buy (most) of them back with a coupon again shortly?

I imagine that they will be taken quickly if they are good names...

No.

If the names are bad enough to drop, take it as a lesson and move on.

My understanding is that it's not a violation of trademark/copyright to have government agency names/abbreviations in your domain name (ie CIA/Drone). Can anyone confirm this?

I would not register a CIA, Gov. or whatever domain name just to keep it on the safe side. Your CIA drone domain is risky.

Why would you want that type of domain? You may want to drop it. Also, never use the asking price of another domain as a reason to register something similar.

Why would I want? The CIA is the chief user of drones. (Ever watch Homeland?) The dn is short and simple. Drones are very much associated with the CIA in most of our minds.

As for the plural's asking price, that was definitely NOT what I used to determine if buying this domain was worth a $1.17 risk.
