According to Domainpunch.com, .TOP today dropped 437,000 names and are now below 3 million registrations.

Massive loss! Obviously mostly because of all these campaigns a year ago.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
It's simply marketing by a company. Nothing else. Just compare it with the same empty words about the .best extension:

Sure, it's marketing - but their arguing is based on the untoppable term 'top' and therefore on the untoppable fact that .top = top.

So definitely no 'empty words'.

Where is a market, there is marketing; every TLD has it's own marketing - but no other TLD than the TLD .top can use the '.top = top.' argument - for example, .com can only say .com = com. (???).

In the case of the TLD .best for me it looks like that .best is trying to be .top but that's not possible because only .top = top.

The .TOP zonefile on the CZDS (the site where all domain stats sites get their new gTLD zonefiles) is stuck on the 21 June 2017 file. It hasn't updated since then. Basically, it seems that the .TOP registry has not uploaded the daily zonefile since then.

No one is scared.
Becasue at the end, the top can't fall because... ...it's the top.
In other words, if the top 'falls', it is still the top.
That's why I always say that .top = top.

But probably the number of .top registrations exploded in the last days and the www can't handle it, we will see.

Yeah but space is 5 letters and could just mean space like on a hard drive.

.sky is way up high, you might even say higher than the .top of buildings.

Yikes!!

You can't live without CHIPs or what???
They are falling in all TLDs whole this year...

And again...
Western part in .TOP is 500K domains max.

The sky is higher than the top of buildings, yes.
But don't you know that you can reach the 'top of the sky'?
It's the so called 'exosphere', that's about where the 'sky ends' = where you reach the 'sky's top' and where the 'space begins'.

Another reason why only .top = top. is because only one TLD can be .top, there are not two equal TLD's, every TLD can exist only one time.
Like every domain can exist only one time.

Only two (!!!) reported .top sales this year according to Namebio.com and Dnpric.es.

This domain is obviously more or less "dead" from a domaining perspective. At least for now.

Ps. I saw that Jurgen Wolf mentioned a sale. Congrats!

Ps. I have decided to drop all my one-word .top. No reason to keep them.

HeHe don't drop them right away maybe @KINGOF.TOP will buy them from you. :xf.wink:

If he thinks they are so valuable maybe he is willing to pony up on one or two of them.

Thanks, they are already about to be deleted from Dynadot and Namecheap. Might be dropcatched though. ;)

Only two reported sales to only two platforms means all other sales are unreported to them.
This TLD is simply still 'underground' from a domaining perspective. At least for now.

Congrats, @Jurgen Wolf to your sale!
Will you report it to the mentioned platforms?
Or will you do it like the 99 % and won't report it?

Yes, all sales are obviously not mentioned there. I tend to not report my own $xxx sales.

However, it will provide an indication of the popularity of a certain extension, form a domainer's perspective.

true, some domains are not reported...

but when you compare to other extensions like .xyz, .io, etc. - .top has dismal sales.

If your perspective as domainer is the .top, then you don't care about this 'indication'.

Not 'some' but 'most' are not reported.
It's not possible to compare .top to other extensions because .top = top.

still drinking the coolaid i guess (or trying to get others too)

example:

if .xyz has 100's of reported sales and .top has 2 reported sales on the same platform (namebio), one can come to the same logical conclusion... there barely any sales for .top (reported or not)
