I have noticed a lot of negative threads about demand media / channelme.tv
platform, I myself am very unhappy with many features they offer, as the initial reason for investing in .tv was part pre-May 1st hype of the their "VideoHosting Platform" / "Ad Revenue Program".

One serious question...... has anyone tried to make contact with Richard R. via e-mail/phone/snail mail/in person, about any or all of these issues......

.....and if so what was his response ?????

I'm not here to bash ... just ask, I still like the me.tv platform idea, but they need to fix it and tweek it BIG time!

The more I read peoples thoughts and my observations is this

Channel me is great for the end user.

They don't care what an expert in the field thinks or a domainer. Exception to this is them buying out or offerring a great exit plan for the domainer like Hollywood.tv

There in so many areas and they want your brother sister, girlfriends and friends to register a .tv with them, they get this nice platform and interact. They don't plan to make money. Its like a social network of friends and etc. Me personally if I wasn't a domainer or worry about making money I would register Justin.tv over a channelme site in a heart beat. Justin is the poster child of .tv I believe, even with there small round of fun financing vs 400 million of demand media

Just my thoughts folks. They want end user traffic and users.

Good luck.

You are 100% correct, I agree. I just like to gripe about their sucky sucky advertising program because I feel they are misleading people into thinking they might make a few bucks from it.
I created Abstracts.tv because I like music, and it is easy to show videos!

In the early days when it was new and we were all friends, you could get a response from one guy - I think his name was Bill. We had a few communications which were quite candid (at the time I was putting alot of energy into my channelme site). Of course, when things got more negative and things started to go wrong, DM towers kind of shut its doors to communication to the outside world.

I tried emailing Richard R a couple of times but no response. But I'm sure the guy has been quite busy - perhaps helping his team come up with new and exciting new templates or trying to conceive of ways of implementing hyperlinks in forums or developing more non-income advertising systems. That kind of thing.

But that was all a while ago. I left channel me back in July (phew!).

not with his response but the timing......

His response (LOL) .......

thanks for the note kevin and I am sorry you are unhappy. Bill will do his best to address your qs.

Passed off to the PR again.. such a busy man, so full of answers and solutions.

I'm sure the message drove home on him, as I outlined some of his major setbacks on channelme.tv

Yeah, My post on Richard.tv must have drove home on him too, he just deleted mine. I guess that is good, though. It must mean I was right, since he didn't want anyone else to see it! Way to go Richard!

They don't give a XXXX about your views and (based on personal experience) you will not hear from them again.

As I say time and time again, a total disgrace. People should take down their sites and vote with their feet if they are unhappy. That way they would be sure to take notice because they haven't many sites on the platform anyway.

C'mon guys, take 'em down! Send these cowboys a real message.

Ok,
I am sorry but I just dont understand all the DM bashing that takes place on here? they are not in business to make you me or anyone but themselves and their investors money, and rightly so. They don't owe any of us anything...If I was to buy real estate in NY would that mean Trump should help me make money off it, after all he invests in the same market?

I have contacted R Rosenblatt a couple of times now on matters not related to me.tv he has replied and I found him to be nothing short of polite and respectful.

and just for the record I have 1 me.tv site I rarely visit let alone update called unearthed.tv, and no ties whatsoever to DM.

guys. why do we repeat this discussion every two days?

ChannelMe is a consumer platform meant to help non-technical users put a site up and share some videos. It is an enhanced version of a YouTube/MySpace/Facebook account.

At this stage, ChannelMe is not:
a) a platform for serious development
b) a platform for serious ad revenue generation

Complaining that it sucks at those two roles is as meaningful as saying that Facebook is not helping you make any money. Sure it would be great if the platform was better and I am sure it will improve over time, but don't expect it to save you!!!

I have seen a drop recently on this board in terms of productive commentary about:

a) buying and selling strategies
b) development strategies

and an increase in "woe be me" in some capacity such as "is .tv doomed" or "channelme sucks" or whatever.

Who cares? The only person that is going to make you successful is yourself so go figure how you can do that...and let's stay focused on positive, productive discussions

No disrespect to anyone and all just IMHO!!!!

:)

If you are not a user of their SERVICE, let me explain the negativity,
it is called POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, as you said they are in biz to make money, can't make money with out customers, and I am not talking about domain investors, I'm talking about end users like another member in this forums daughter who set up a site on me.tv all weekend to see it disappear and then get now answers to inquiring emails and posts on the form, as I myself had the same problem this weekend, they PROMOTED a service they don't really supply, false advertisement, but then again when you goto McDonalds and see the pic of that Tasty looking bigmac, and then get a smash burger in a box, nobody ever complains about that type of bs advertisement either, so i guess we should just lay down and take it......

I like the idea of canning all the channelme.tv sites, I have started already, a couple a day........

(they did make great parking pages if used properly)

I some what agree with your post, but imo , channelme.tv plays a small part in the overall value of .tv, if they blow it so horribly out of the water with their platform in 08, it could set .tv back another year or two, on the other hand if they become successful it can't hurt us other than by further promoting the .TV extension!

Poor service

I agree with Tvman 200%. As I said before, I gave up on dreaming that ChannelMe.tv advertising was going to make some money for me. I won't delete my channels, just because I like music, and like my Abstracts.tv! I keep hearing people say "develop your own site". I am not a webmaster, or expert. I tried paying to have someone do a site for me. All kinds of promises before, and then a so so site. $300 out the door.n (it wasn't even the video type!!) Even if I did it myself, I have to pay for hosting, broadband width, or whatever it is I need to buy for almost 2,000 videos. (See, I don't even know)

As Tvman , and I stated, that is no excuse for ChannelMe.tv to provide poor services. Ok, we know they are after the "myspace" type crowd. That is fine. They should still provide the services they promise!
So, heck with it. Go to my Abstracts.tv ,and listen to some good music! While, you are there....... buy something from one of the ads!!!!!!!!!!!! Ha! :yell:

Tvman: nice avatar!

Antonis you make a good point I agree but it is not bashing Demand Media if people are using the service and it does not work properly.

TVMan why did Richard call you Kevin when your name is Brett
