My first week at Channelme.tv with advertising was $8.72. ChannelMe.tv must have thought they were paying out too much! Now down to 88 cents for the first two weeks in November! What a bunch of poop! I hope they read this! I also posted a question about advertising on the ChannelMe.tv blog, and can't even get a response from them. Pretty sad. So, I bring it to Namepros.com! Maybe if we all raise enough stink about this, they will listen. I know I have another thread on this, but I want them to see the title of this one!

October, 2007 $8.72 USD Carryover $0.00 USD
November, 2007 $0.88 USD Period Active $0.00 USD (Wow! What a fabulous advertising campaign!)

OK, Am I wrong here? I know others here have to have ChannelMe.tv sites. Are you making money, and don't want to talk? Or,, maybe nobody really cares about ChannelMe.tv advertising?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

You are right I think one things is we could have everyone vote to boycott their ads.
The joke is there is no transparency, no other business can say GFY we are not telling you how much we are getting paid or you. Broker has to disclose sales commission, Real Estate agents disclose fees, Affiliate programs tell you how much you are getting paid. Its a total joke but most must not care because they accept it.

What about using the google adsense widget instead?

You can use both I think some people are using both. The Demand Media ads are not pay per click. One of the variables they state on the T & C are length of time a user spends on the website.

I would gladly vote for a boycott. I mean, what am I, or anybody else, going to lose, 88 cents a month? Ha! :yell: As you say, equity, we should at least know what is going on with the ads! Count me in! We should get together, give Channelme.tv a 30 days notice, to at least give us some answers. If they don't, we all turn off our ads! :)

I have both. Not making anything there yet either. But, they don't look near as good as the real ads.

I have 55 cents so far this month.. not very encouraging, but I also have no idea what my real traffic is or where it comes from.. wish we had some reliable way of tracking it.

Dave, I went from $8.72 the first week advertising was available, to 88 cents for all of November so far.... pretty darn sad. Looks like to me ChannelMe.tv got greedy, and cut back on whatever our cut was. We don't have any idea, or stats at all from ChannelMe.tv, they can do whatever they want too. Time to get the boycott going! Like the Dav3.tv, by the way! :)

I dunno that a boycott would hurt them all that much.. I just wish they'd enable the use of HTML and embeds whereever we wanted them instead of having to resort to widgets.

Thanks for the comment reL dav3.tv.. I also own g-rated.tv.

A boycott would affect them Dave because they need to have sites to place ads on. If everyone opted out then they have no network to place ads on. The joke is there is no transparency. No other industry gets away with this. But it is accepted so I guess they can continue to not have any transparency.

Hi welcome to Wendy's we cannot tell you how much you will be paid, it depends on several factors, How busy the store is, how many frosty's you can make in an hour and how good looking you are. But those are just some factors but don't worry you can check your salary online at www.whatthe****amIearning.com

I agree with Equity 200%. I think it would help it we all, including those who aren't offered advertising (non USA), posted our complaints on the ChannelMe.tv blog:

http://www.channelme.tv/forums/topic-26491-you-want-ad-share-you-got-ad-share-

I have a couple of posts, but no answers. I think they migght start listening, if they start to see a bunch of posts. Dave, you could ask about the HTML's?

Thanks Equity.

I don't think anyone is surprised Bulldog, low payout fine but have some clarity about it. Plenty of programs pay crap but tell you how you are being paid and what you are getting paid. Say you are gettting paid $3 CPM great I know I will make $3 a month knowing the site gets 1000 uniques a month. But do not say it is a mystery formula that we cannot say how it is formulated.

I completely agree with that EQ. The complete and utter lack of visibility in channel me will be what kills it for a domainer wanting to monetize their domain name.

I encourage all of you to complain about this. You won't get anywhere, but at least they would know you are grumpy.

Guys, seriously, do you REALLY think they care what domainers think? No, they care that Suzie Bubblegum buys imaprincess.tv and shares cute videos with other teenybops so that they ask their parents to buy them a tv website.

"Mommy, Suzie has this cool website. Can I have one?"
"Sure princess Debbie"
"Ok, I need your credit card"
"Um, isn't myspace free?"
"This isn't myspace"
"What is it?"
"ChannelMe"
"Channel what?"
"ChannelME!!!!!"
"Never heard of it, go get a facebook, or a myspace. Don't you already have youtube?"

But I digress......

No that is true Bulldog the site I built for my newborn niece, my family my brother in laws family who are all unsophisticated non techie, think the site is the coolest greatest thing they have ever seen. Howcan I get one? can you build it for me ? So that is their niche and it does work. Because in a sense you can keep your preteen and young teen off of Myspace by giving them their own mini myspace and a lot of them like the Vanity of their TV. So that is fine go sell a bunch of registrations I have no problems with that, but have a little transparency for those who are a little more tech and business oriented.

ChannelMe.tv is making our money from ads!

There are 73,044 members at Namepros.com alone. That doesn't include other forums. I can't believe that the majority of people who bought ChannelMe.tv domains aren't domainers, versus teens.
The more we speak up, the more ChannelMe.tv will listen, I hope. They have to hear from more than 4, or 5 upset domainers, however. We have to speak up!

Well, then let's see how many channelme channels there are:

http://oversoldhost.com/?s=channelme.tv

About 714 by that count.

http://oversoldhost.com/?s=me.tv

785 that way.

There are some other ways to search, but I have never found more then 850 on the platform. If they have another server they pump to, I certainly haven't come across it.

I am not saying this is accurate, but it's the best way to search I have. That being said, if you look at the list of sites on there, a very small percentage are names I have seen around here or any domain forum for that matter. So I would say it is a very small niche website that few actually know about.

Their target audience is teens, tweens, and families. The carrot of ad revenue will entice newbs, and domainers should know better then to expect to be making a fortune off a template driven site like these. Especially if domainers have zero visibility into actual traffic and revenue.

"Based on length of time spent on the site, and other factors...." What an absolute crock of poop.

Nothing personal man, I just don't think domainers complaints will matter one single bit knowing that we are NOT their target demographic.

And what the hell? less then 1000 sites?

In affiliate marketing, the posted payout for a merchant is simply that. Once you show them that you are consistant, that your developed site is producing a growing amount of sales over an extended period of time, it is quite possible to ask the merchant for an increased cut of the pie. Most merchants expect, this, actually, and already have additional bonusses and plans in place before you even approach them.

They need to be more transparent, absolutely, this is the first I've ever run across - and I've looked at thousands of programs - that did not state a specific amount.

However, I do think this is early, maybe planned out by someone who has not worked the affiliate side in the past, and that, as traffic grows they will bend over backwards to take care of us. I'm an optimist, maybe, but I do not believe, I have never believed, that they are in this to be chincy. DM wants to make hundreds of millions of dollars a year off of advertising revenue, and the only way that will occur is to make it appealing to us, the traffic brokers.

Change will occur, but a nudge or two from us couldn't hurt.

p.s. - I do not believe the collective traffic here is enough to even begin suggesting a boycott, they wouldn't even miss us - yet.

If that is the case, then they haven't hardly any to teens either then, right? What you are saying is what they are hoping for. I don't see thousands of teens parents buying them websites, when myspace is free. So, what we are talking about is advertising for maybe 1,000 sites, regardless of who they are for? I am not asking to get rich here, but now a little over $1.00 for 19 days into November? (Abstracts.tv)

I think what we need to know is not how much we aren't making, but how much has DM made so far from the Channelme.tv sites enrolled in the advertising. Of course, we won't be told that.
