EDGAR, the SEC’s electronic database of securities filings, has revamped its full text search, now allowing searches of filings since 2000. The legacy full text search (which will only be available until September 2020) only indexed the previous 4 years (although I’ve been checking weekly for new filings for longer than that).

Due to this new capability, I discovered that the Delta.com domain name was acquired in July 2000 by Delta Airlines, for $2,125,000.

Interesting... my girlfriend works for Delta. Good value for the company.

That's like the cost of paying 30 employees' salary and expenses for a year and they have 80,000 employees (now at least... less in 2000). I think they got a great deal at $2 million.

A few others, as noted on Twitter:

a) Imagination.com - $375,000 in 2000 (99% sure), see:

with archive.org histories showing the change of ownership

b) Answers.com -- $80,200 in March 2004, see:

It had already been reported by CNET, but was missing from NameBio and
DNJournal.

c) Roo.com -- $54,000 in November 2005, see:

d) Bidz.com -- $150,000 in 1998, see:

e) Interland.nl -- $150K cash + $238K shares = $388K total (might not
be reportable, due to that mixture of cash + stock)
interland.com.mx = $25K
Both in the year 2000.

See:
f) Elliot Silver found one for $500K (back in 2004!

There are likely a lot more just waiting to be found by searching the SEC archives, given the enhanced full text search.

Very good price,
I wonder if I will have a chance to sell a domain name at such a high price someday
