If you are talking about type in traffic then the hyphen version is not likely to capture any traffic from the non-hyphened version.
If you are talking about developed websites then "sometimes" the hyphen works better in search engines but this is only a very small part in deciding how well a website is ranked - incoming links - page title - quality content - page design etc.
I am a bit confused as to what you really mean - If someone promotes a hyphen domain/business over the radio then the chances are more people with go to the non-hyphen address.
I would'nt think the other way is likely to work but hey, who knows JMO of course.
