DAN.COM (formerly known as Undeveloped.com) is on a path to be become the biggest domain marketplace in the world. We use state of the art technology to solve everyday problems buyers and sellers in the domain industry face. At DAN.COM we focus on automating most processes required to buy & sell domains to increase a more efficient and active secondary market for domains.

What sets us apart is our strong focus on product development and customer satisfaction. We leave nothing to chance and every single feature and element we introduce is professionally and carefully designed and built.

DAN.COM is ranked in the top 5 best-rated marketplaces in the world (According to the biggest review platform Trustpilot) and in the domain industry, we're the domain marketplace with the highest rating with an average of 9,4 out of 10 points.

At DAN.COM you will get the highest value for the lowest commission around. Due to our domain transfer automation, we can offer significantly faster handling of domain transactions and payouts (usually within 24 hours) at the lowest fee charged by any domain marketplace.

Rick Latona tried this, Epik does offer domain loans without to much formality.

Epik gives you credit for you to spend
(in house) Eg if you couldn't afford domain name renewals etc they would consider lending you credit to renew domain names that you have with them or hosting etc

Which is a big step forward in the domain name industry etc and it would go some way for domain name investors to add liquidity to a domain name portfolio etc by allowing an investor to diversify a portfolio or pay for auction fees etc

But epik won't lend money against domain names for the domain name owner to pay external bills etc and it's this that is still a problem because there are domain name investors with digital assets

Eg domain names

That they have bought for reg fee etc With the odd £10 here and there etc and built a small portfolio as they learn the industry etc but who may have traditional debt that they cannot use their digital assets Eg domain names as digital collateral to refinance themselves so that they pawn domain names to get themselves out of debt or pay everyday bills etc

When domain name pawnbrokers are everywhere people will be able to buy a domain in the morning for £10 and go to a domain name pawnbrokers and raise capital from their hand reg domain at lunch time which they can use to pay a traditional bill before evening meal etc

That service doesn't currently exist or if it does those that offer that service will only lend against the top 1% of premium domain names which leaves 99% of domain name investors without such a service etc

Dan is great marketplace. From my experience, they attract much more offers to their parked pages than Sedo/Uniregistry/Afternic combined.

Important things to improve:

1. It would be great if Dan could implement automatic forwarding of auth codes to buyers. Now, in cases it requires manual work, it can take more than a day to forward auth code, especially on weekends, so it needlessly increases time to close transaction. This is where we definitely need Dan Bot.

2. Accept offer/counter offer buttons and message forms are not active if some ad blockers/antiviruses are installed. This is very inconvenient, and it is much easier to fix it at Dan's side than at sellers' side. That I need to turn off ad blocker/antivirus to get access to all Dan's functionalities is rather odd. Even with those installed, yet turned off, the above mentioned features are still not active in my case, so I have to use separate device to use Dan. It is very inconvenient.

I wonder if the rebranding to dan.com affects the sales

they had just made a name for the brand "underveloped" and established some trust
and now its called dan.com and the brand "undeveloped" is disappearing

maybe thats a problem

I'd love to test the old version versus the new version

I don't think it's the rebranding, if at all.

While old brand was indeed established, the new brand has a ton of advantages (shorter name; easiest to type; easy to spell; no negative connotations - undeveloped sounds alright to us domainers, not so much to regular folks looking to buy a domain that might be unclear about what an undeveloped domain is). I believe not only the rebranding was necessary, but also that they are banking on this brand topping their old success. And that it really does.

But for us sellers, it's a different story.

What I believe happens there, is an imbalance between seller growth and clients, namely offer vs. demand. Their traffic and reach has grown indeed; but not only the number of domainers has increased, but also the barrier of entry is so low with so many offers for new extensions at 0.99 or 1.99, and simply the offer mass in number of names has grown way more than the demand, and clients have much more names to chose from.

I have extra reasons to believe this, since the same thing happens at certain brandable marketplaces, sellers are complaining sales are becoming low.

In few words, competition has largely increased.

New record set, two days have passed, the auth code not forwarded to the buyer yet.

@DAN.COM Could you ask the Dan Bot to intervene, please? :)

If the transfer specialist has so much manual work to do and is not available on Saturdays/Sundays, it would be just great if Dan Bot could handle forwarding the auth codes to buyers.

Which domain transaction is this about?

Hi @DAN.COM

Is everything ok with the bot? I initiated a push to Godaddy almost 24 hours ago and it still didn't approve the transfer.

Domain is Hygienic((net))

Hi Yair,

Accepting a domain push at Godaddy is not an automated task of the bot.

PS: your transfer is not accepted because you didn't use our customer number while pushing and only used our escrow email address. Always use both as instructed to get a faster service for domains sold at Godaddy.

Kind regards,

Dan

How does @DAN.COM handle domain transfers that still have the 60 Day Domain Lock?

For example, if I hand regged a domain today and sold it tomorrow, and my registrar has an automatic 60 day transfer lock and I can only push between accounts, how is this handled?

Does Dan just instruct the buyer to create an account at the current registrar and they push the domain, rather than giving an AUTH Code option?

Curious what the standard protocol is on this..

I recently used Dan for a mid 4 figure transaction, no idea how the buyer found the name as it did not point there, but everything went awesome, and was quick, and painless on my end. Smooth transaction, very impressed with the service based on this transaction.

It looks like Dan is very busy, which is a good thing, might need to add more staff to cover during US hours.

Someone's traffic might landed on your domain and got sold. This was the main issue with DAN.
Buydomains have been selling too.

Domains getting sold is an issue?

Domains getting sold is an issue?

not an issue to DAN or some portfolio holders. But it would be a major issue for some people who brought traffic to DAN.

You are going to have to spell that out a little. I’m a bit daft.

@DAN.COM Requesting to implement private listing. Sometimes when I try to sell domains listed at brandable marketplaces (e.g. BrandBucket etc) to other domaners/members (at wholesale prices) I get warning notices from the admins if they somehow discover the listing on DAN. And it seems they check this place quite quickly and often too. That, and for wholesale deals like this I always have to list using make offer with minimum price set instead of BIN to avoid that small chance of it being purchased by the wrong person. So if private listing is possible then deals with domainers will be much faster since I won't have to go through that [offer > accept offer > wait for payment] processes each time.

As I see, the import of transaction (or escrow - in other words) is still bound to default currency...
Please add the currency switcher for escrow orders...

Excellent post and very valid points.

Dan constantly surpasses itself: on my last transaction, customer deposited cash at 10 AM - money was in my account by 10 PM. And mind you, I am outside of the USA and main Europe.

Just got hit with payment delays for the 1st time due to this one. On top of that, I see that payment reminders happen at the wrong time - To have payment reminders sent at my timing (the hour around when I clicked "accept offer") instead of buyer's timing (the hour when buyer made the offer) is just.....

Will never happen for me simply because I'm a night owl in Asia. It all depends on when you're able to do domaining. If the final process is always completed during 9am-5pm Netherlands time on weekdays then payouts will always be faster. At least that's what I noticed.
