Question : I do not understand what is the criteria of the search results...let's put some examples.

My domain : domain names com .com, not on the first

how comdomainnames < -------------- is more relevant than domain names com .com
or what about LLL domain names. - -but this not only happens to me, there are even other very good ones with low priority ..like " domainnamespro " great domain after iodomainnames.co ... aaaDomainNames ... ensdomainname... for real!!

---- here another example.: tel / eventos (a misspelled domain with more priority than) the domain well written.

The search results are based on submission date or what?

Good morning @gipson,

Thank you for checking in with us.

The search results are based on more than just TLDs and keywords. Names that are parked with higher levels of traffic and leads rank better for example. In order to rank better, it is highly recommended to park the domains with us as well.

Have a great week.

We've been informed that there's quite some misinformation spreading about our revamped checkout. We'd like to share some insights about our checkout to clarify why we're so excited about our new checkout, and you should be too.

We've designed the checkout with care and so far the data since launch is looking very promising. It's too early to make a final conclusion yet and we will implement improvements over time when our data indicates that that is required. But so far, after a small hiccup on launch day, we're doing well.

Here's what makes our payment processing system stand out:

1: We offer all local payment solutions per market. Most of our competitors are focused on optimizing
for just one region. Domain buyers at Dan can pay with their local payment processor like Ideal, Mr cash, AliPay etc. These payment options do not introduce any payment fee.

2: All transactions handled by Dan under $999 do not include a payment fee.

3: For transactions from and above $1000 we've created an entirely new setup so we can offer local Bank Transfers which process within hours not days as an alternative that also introduces a 1% discount for the buyer. Unlike our previous checkout, all domain buyers in the new model get the easy local Bank Transfer option including the 1% discount.

Since our sellers pay a low commission at Dan and considering that Dan has built quite a reputation with repetitive domain/brand buyers, we expect more end-users to purchase their domain at Dan due to the 1% discount given which saves you inherently also commission that other platforms charge. Buying domains at Dan is the smartest thing a domain buyer can do. They'll get an exclusive 1% discount and enjoy a much faster and efficient domain ownership transfer.

In the new model, the seller even gets a 1% discount when the buyer pays with Bank Transfer. Even if you import a lead, and the lead pays with Bank Transfer, you only pay a 4% commission instead of our already low 5%.

4: We're the only marketplace that accepts credit card payments up to $100k (Afternic/ Sedo/ Escrow.com all limited this to just $5K). We process weekly multiple mid $xx,xxx transactions being paid with credit card at Dan. This alone is making all Dan sellers more money.

Meanwhile our other two direct competitors: Godaddy & Sedo both charge fees and or make their checkout pretty limited. Godaddy always ads a $19 renewal charge on all transactions while Sedo charges a 3% payment processing fee.

5: In the past 12-months we've implemented many changes in the background with the assistance of a dedicated Adyen payment specialist and a third-party PSP optimization specialist. We've for example increased the acceptance rate of credit card payments from the US by 24%! Which is huge! Our current credit card acceptance rate is higher than 95% of other e-commerce/marketplaces due to the strong focus we gave this part of the core service we offer.

In our revamped model, as mentioned earlier, we've made sure to always present the buyer with a discount alternative and free local payment processing alternatives next to the payment options that do have a 1% or max 2% payment processing fee involved.

We do not share these things publicly because we shouldn't have to. Especially not in a market where our product and processes are copied by all competitors, new and old.

Dan is the only party here that actually monitors checkout abandonment rates, checkout completion rates, conversion rates, and so on. The assumption being made by many non-active Dan sellers that we'd implement a new checkout that would hurt sales is one that we cannot comprehend. If after the first 30 days we observe a big checkout abandonment rate, we'll revert the payment fee update immediately.

We've built the most efficient domain marketplace existing today, active Dan sellers know this because we're continuously improving our processes on all fronts. All divisions at Dan (we're growing to 45 employees this year and 110 next year) have KPI's and each division, monthly makes sure to improve their division KPI's. The bigger we get, the more we can do. In the past years, we've operated with a very small development team. Now, 60% of our entire team is in product development!

We've started the process of raising €15M in growth capital this year to double down on everything we've planned next. That round will likely close before December. Our announcement blog post made it clear that what we've launched recently is the new foundation for us to be able to build & grow faster towards our end goal and so an in-between offering.

We've rejected 3 acquisition offers in the past 2 years alone from the biggest companies in the market because we're not closely done with reshaping the domain industry. In those discussions, we found out how effective our marketplace is performing compared to our competitors. The domain industry is still a niche market, which introduces benefits but also negative downsides. A small group of domainers that hardly sell any domains are the most vocal ones on forums like this one. This makes us less active here because we gain nothing from getting into endless discussions with people that are not receptive to anything we say.

Always ask Dan's staff about how things work at Dan when in doubt. We don't advise collecting information about Dan on forums because we're a fast-moving company that changes processes often.

We hope the above clarifies the checkout changes we've implemented and why Dan's checkout is still the best payment collection option offered in the market.

Kind regards,

Dan

I don't think the 1% discount for wire-transfers would appeal to anyone but, those who already intend to use bank transfer which i assume is a very small percentage of buyers,
and wires don't exactly translate to 'Easy, hassle free payments', especially to those who are used to using credit-cards.

This could more specifically affect those who opt for 'lease-to-own' option for big purchases.
Could you imagine the annoying dilemma every single month, of either having to pay 2% over the top of pre-existing mark-ups or choosing the tedious wire-transfer for a small discount, which definitely isn't a substitute for the convenience of credit-cards for recurring payments.

This could very well be a recurring nightmare for price conscious buyers..

Good morning @Innoverge,

Thank you for raising this concern.

On many platforms, you pay an additional fee for the usage of credit cards. I understand that assumption made but the data shows this is not affecting the sales so far. We are one of the few who monitor the dropout rate closely and have found no difference. In addition, the majority experiencing problems with this payment method reach out to our support desk. We have found no noticeable difference in outreaches now that we grant your client a 1% discount on their purchase for using wire transfers as a payment method. Rather, this option only ensures that the purchase becomes more affordable for your buyers.

That being said, we will keep monitoring the effects of it closely.

Have a great day.

If i had to ask something from DAN is to allow the seller to accept the buyer's initial offer even if the seller made a counter offer.
For how long? It’s understandable to think that the buyer made an offer on a different domain after receiving a counter offer

One week would be perfect. Buyer could be warned that the seller has the right to accept his first offer if counter offer was rejected by him.

My thoughts are, with BIN's the buyer might just use the credit card anyways, despite the 2% surcharge and just get over it, some might even consider the 1% discount for wires an incentive and opt for it but,
with monthly installment transactions choosing wire-transfers becomes less about the 1% discount and more and more about avoiding the 2% convenience fee on credit cards every single time, if you catch my drift.
I would rather want to avoid a sense of unease creeping in for buyers making monthly payments.

I understand why you would want to compare yourself to other marketplaces here but, it wouldn't exactly be accurate with variables like 'lease-to-own' option, which i assume constitutes a significant part of your sales.

I'm sure you'll have your data and do what's necessary, when required.

@DAN.COM is there a possibility to reset "revenue total overall" or only show this year's revenue only? For example, show only 2021 revenues in 2021 and only show 2022 revenues in 2022 like below:

And we have a winner! Congrats @MasterOfMyDomains! We'll send you a PM to arrange to send you the $500 price you won with guessing when Dan.com would overtake Sedo in traffic.

Don't get us wrong, we like working with Sedo and hope Sedo will join our open domain distribution network in the near future.

Why this is an important moment for us is the milestone we've just hit. Before we started Dan we used to sell our domains at legacy marketplaces and our frustration with those platforms got us fired up to build the next generation's domain marketplace.

In August 2021, after +8 years of relentless non-stop hard work, many ups and downs, and continually improving our marketplace, we finally got there and have overtaken the company that inspired us to enter the domain industry.

Thank you all for being part of our journey and remember, this is just the beginning. The bigger Dan gets, the more resources we can dedicate to keep pushing it and introducing new features, business models, and more for our users.

Congrats again @MasterOfMyDomains,

Dan

Guess there's no point listing domains on Dan unless you are using Dan landers. Absolutely zero views my domains at Dan (on Epik landers), pointless listing them there if nobody will ever see them.

There's an unwritten law in the domain industry. When you have for example 500 domains and you list those next to 12.6M and counting domains, your domains compete with those names and so you might not get much action. However, when you operate 10,000 domains, that significantly increases your chance to compete with other portfolios on an open market.

This is also one of the reasons why specific niche marketplaces with little inventory can perform well for you, in terms of listing only, compared to marketplaces like Dan since you compete with fewer competitors.

Long story short, if you're not getting any eyeballs on our marketplace, considering adding more domains to your portfolio or use our for sale pages to improve your domain ranking in our search. Our search will rank domains with traffic, leads, negotiations etc higher. So get busy and you'll succeed at Dan as well!

Kind regards,

Dan

Thank you very much for holding the contest, providing great service and support, and being part of namepros. Wishing you 8 years, or many more years of success.
Keep doing what your doing over there, your doing it right

@LaszloSchenk Can you guys please consider letting sellers opt out of email notifications when adding domains to Dan.com and deleting domains from Dan.com? I'm getting so many unneeded emails and I really wish there would be an option not to get all these emails. I'm sure many other users would be thankful as well if Dan.com could implement such an option. Thanks for the consideration.

Good morning @SuperBrander,

Unfortunately, this is not possible. Without the reports, you would not know for certain if your names are or aren't added/deleted. If a domain import or delete would fail, the reports would notify you of it and indicate the reason for failure.

@LaszloSchenk Thanks. Can't these reports be in the account somewhere instead of being sent via emails? Having the option to see what was added and what failed can be helpful, but why in the form of an email? But even if an email needs to be sent while adding domains (which some platforms do), why does every single domain that's being deleted requires an email? I'm not familiar with any other domain platform that sends people emails every time they delete a domain. I love Dan.com, but this specific issue is quite annoying. I hope your team can consider some sort of an improvement in that regard. Thanks again for the consideration.

Received fake offer on @DAN.COM.
Why spammers are making fake offers after confirming email and phone number on Dan.

What action Dan is taking against them?

They should block their e-mail and phone number.
What do you think NP community?
I receive a lot everyday, sometimes spending time to negotiate, by the end they accept and never send the payment. Dan is ok for BIN only but not make offer. I will not use anymore dan with make offers...

Good morning @td11,

At the moment this is not possible. The dashboard only shows the total revenue but we have a separate section in your general settings called the revenue section which displays your total revenue per month and the allocated years as well.

Have a great weekend ahead.

Good morning @SuperBrander,

Thank you for your response and further explanation.

We do not do this on a per-domain basis but provide a report with every bulk action you perform. If you delete one domain at the time or add one domain at the time you will receive multiple reports indeed as we need to provide a status update to prevent undesired situations from happening. If you want to delete a domain but for some particular reason could not delete it, the report would notify you of it. However, I will still relay your feedback to our product team of course!

Have a great weekend ahead.
