Hi NamePros,

We’re announcing the launch of the .crypto domain extension on 12/11. 50,000 domains have already been registered. Go to https://unstoppabledomains.com/?ref=namepros to find available domains.

You’ve probably all heard about cryptocurrency, but may not be aware that new domain extensions are being launched on blockchains. These domains are not part of the ICANN system. They are stored by the owner, with their private key, not by a registrar like Godaddy. No one can transfer a domain or update it other than the owner. If you store website content on decentralized storage instead of Amazon Web Services, then no one can take down your website other than you.

A blockchain domain + Decentralized storage = An uncensorable website

This is the beginning of an entirely new internet built to protect free speech around the world.

Blockchain domain features
  • No Renewals - Pay once and it’s yours ... forever

  • No Custodian - Domains are stored by the owner. No third party can move or update them

  • Payments - The domain can be used as a payment address for cryptocurrencies. Send Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, or any other currency all to the same domain

  • Uncensorable Websites - Attach domains to content on decentralized storage and create an uncensorable website

  • Transfers - Escrow agents aren’t needed. Transfer to anyone in the world in under 1 minute with no risk of being defrauded

We’ll be moderating this thread and we’d love to hear your thoughts!

Noticing alot of names uploaded to OpenSea. Are those going to be on auction or BIN soon?

A trademarked brand or one that is in common use by a brand. And yes, the list is currently overly inclusive of some generic terms. They will be removed the list and made available, not just given to the brands that have the .com.
So tell me how “store” is protected? That’s about as generic as it gets.

Shouldn't be. That's a top tier domain. Will be removed.

Claiming a .CRYPTO domain....

Connect an Ethereum Web3 wallet to claim your domain.

Would you care to explain how to do that?

So... The .crypto domains still can not be claimed... Or am I wrong?
Are they live or still waiting for the launch? Just wondering cause things are not so clear to me at this time.

Btw, I think you are doing a great job. Revolution baby!

I came across a recent YouTube video which showed someone claiming some long names for illustrative purposes. They .mentioned Metamask which I have heard of but do not know how to use.

You should be able to claim your .crypto domains now (if there is no trademark issues). I believe that it is now open for everyone.

This idea reminds me of PayPal.me and them allowing people to get things like PayPal.me/deposit. It hasn’t went well or better yet, isn’t needed.

When people want to send funds via PayPal, they use an email address. Nobody asks what your cute PayPal.me address is.

An email address you can remember, a wallet address you cannot.. thats why crypto users use QR codes, a crypto domain would be an addition to QR use

I just threw my hat in the ring, I bought 'PayMyWallet.Crypto' and claimed it on Trustwallet and it says pending claim so must be still transferring on the blockchain, can't spend too much time on this...will check back later

Yea! I got some claimed as well. The coolest part is the custodianship. It's like owning your own registrar and registry.

How will people pay us using this? I'm still unsure, at the moment it just shows a pop up with my btc QR code... It would be nice to get a website on there as well.. I already see search terms on Google such as 'Blockchain website template' , 'Blockchain hosting'

Theres an option to list your domain for sale but Im not in a rush to do that

For file sharing through a website, I believe the protocol for that is IPFS (InterPlanetary File System).

Where do you see the option to list your domain for sale? I am not seeing that. I am using a different wallet and believe that may be the reason.

In Trustwallet under the domain you have 2 options 'Open on Unstoppable Domains' or 'Open on Opensea.io' ... Opensea has an option to list for sale

I dont have that option with Coinbase Wallet.

@Unstoppable Domains is there differences with .crypto working with different wallets? Do you recommend a particular wallet, etc? Any information regarding would be much appreciated.
