I'm not sure, but could this be an example
of a consolidated expiry date?

E.g. Road Nav dot COM

Creation Date: 10-feb-2003
Expiration Date: 01-oct-2009

I remember seeing the feature offered at Godaddy
but never actually seen a "done" one :cy:

Maybe someone who has used the service can comment
or we'll be guessing for days

Is it possible that the domain named was first created/regged in Sept '02 then dropped but resurrected/registered once again in July of another year?

Thus the creation/first use of the dn would be the original date.

But then it wouldn't show the "original" Created date
it would show when it was newly regged again.

I have consolidated quite a few with godaddy so I probably have 100+ that look like that, makes it nice to have the same amount of domains up for renewal each month or at least on the ones you intend to hold for a bit.

I'm really confused seeing thing like that for FIRST TIME :o

what can be the actual reason ? :-s

Huh! Though I never thought much about the create date, I just went under the assumption that it was the very first time the dn was created/regged.

Thanks for the clarification!

(bamaboy, check out mis_chiff and SpareDomains posts. They seem to have answered/explained what is going on.)

With GoDaddy, you can "consolidate" the expiration dates of your domains. It's more or less ordering a few renewals at months rather than years.

Let's say you owned domain.com and let's assume it was to expire on July 15th. You could pay a little cash to have the domain expire on September 15th instead. So your domain could have been regged July 15th 2000 and expire on September 15th 2001 or whatever.

Correct me if I'm wrong :)

Do you pay a higher rate when extending a domain's expiration date by, say, a few months instead of a year?

Say the renewal is $12... and you want to extend the registration by 6 months instead of a year. Would you pay $6 then, or...?

It's kinda like that. I really can't recall but I think it costs about $2/3 a month, by default.

it's $1.00 a month at godaddy and if you use a coupon like SAVETEN etc... it makes it .90 cents a month, I have consolidated hundreds and if you ask me how many domains I need to renew each month the number is the same for me 10 out of 12 months which is kinda cool as your renewals are fixed each month instead of 200 this month and 50 the next etc...

I am not aware that you can reg a domain for month. I thought it is always 1 year period. anyways, I do not see the reasons why the creation date and expiry is difference. Maybe you could just ask your registrar. They should be able to help you? PLease share with us if you get the reasons.

Looks like the domain was consolidated with other domains
all to one expiry date.
