Your old guess is still in your head.
All the guesses were deleted to avoid confusion.
You can enter your guess in the Contest Thread which will start Next Week.
I will post the start / end time and the rules this weekend.
Good luck to all.
waiting . . . waiting . . . waiting . . .
Ladies and Gentlemen...
The Contest will start when we post the New Thread on Wednesday.
It will be posted in the Contests and Online Fun section.
The Contest will be closed to submissions Sunday, April 30th at 12:00am GMT.
The Rules are simple.
Format your guess:
Date and Time
MM / DD / YY
Only one guess per profile.
Each date and time can only be guessed a single time, so those who guess first have an advantage to pick from a greater availability of dates and times.
Closest guess without going over will win.
Check original post for more information.
Any particular part of the forum will the new thread be posted?
Thanks for letting us know. We just added a second method that is mobile friendly:
Hope that helps,
Lol..@Cyberian you think you're silly..Totally forget we are in April.
Do you have a thing for "11" lol
Uhm this already happened in 2012 or something. Before inactive and fake users were purged.
So we are having a count down to the second time NP reaches 1 million users?
Don't remember a prior contest.
Glad there been a lot of changes on the forum since then...
Did you make a guess @promo ?
No, there wasn't a prior million members/users/accounts count down
My guess is you are thinking posts, or threads
I never claimed there was a first count down.
I said the forum already had a million users in the past. So seems silly having a countdown to the second time the milestone is reached.
Sorry about that, I messed up because I couldnt believe someone could have thought we passed a million members years ago
I do not believe it. I know it. Around 200k accounts was removed sometime around 2012-2013. We already had a million members. I was selling banner ads on Namepros for the old owner. So remember our media package numbers.
You're correct that a lot of users were lost in the past. However, we don't have any record or indications of the member count ever reaching 1,000,000.
Here's what we know:
Many years ago, there was a database crash that caused metadata to become corrupt and a lot of data was lost. It's also possible that the event you're talking about (A previous admin deleting inactive/fake users) caused some of the stray/unconnected data that we've since fixed. The database was in bad shape (pre-2014) before our CTO Paul fixed it up for us.
When we transitioned from vBulletin to XenForo (new forum software) as seen on this page, we were able to recover certain parts of the data and clean up the database significantly during months of preparation leading up to the upgrade. The number of registered members in our statistics today reflects the number of members that have registered on NamePros. It was inaccurate before due to past database failures/purges that occurred many years ago.
Paul (CTO) is one of the most brilliant technologists we've ever come across and if it wasn't for him, the database would still be in really bad shape. We've been able to build a solid team since then but he really got the ball rolling for us in terms of fixing the database. Many years of work, but it was worth it.
We believe the number today is as accurate as it can be, given the past database failures and purging of inactive/fake accounts. We performed a lot of analysis to recover everything that we could. All of the data points to this being the first time we will ever reach the 1,000,000th registration.
If you find the old media package that you're referring to, please send me it, and we'll look into it. I'm confident that you're thinking of a different statistic, such as unique visitors, posts, etc. If we discover anything new, we'll post an update publicly, but until then, it's safe to consider our months of work on the database as reliable and the best we can do.
Let's please keep this thread on topic about the contest: guessing strategies, prizes, etc.
This contest is intended to be fun and positive.
Thanks for understanding,
My bad. Must have been 1 million threads then.
Guess I didn't win..I also don't win when I pick numbers for the lotteries..At least I am consistent
@Eric Lyon is "Paul" exclusively Namepros..Maybe I can hire him..Probably could afford hire him for five minutes..Might throw in some "maple syrup" as part of the negotiation..
Don't even think about it.
Gosh darn it...Didn't win the millionth Namepros member contest..Didn't win any of last week million dollar lotteries..Now I can't hire a million dollar (hoping in Canadian currency) coder..
At least I can watch the "6 million dollar man"..
You could still win a prize. 3 of the prizes will be awarded to 3 random participants in the contest.
There's still hope!
Where is the member count shown on the site?
