I've seen the discussion several times on GoDaddy search volume and (possibly pro-tip) even use the metric whenever buying domain names.
If you're not sure what I'm referring to - whenever you search a domain name on GoDaddy reg path, you will see (albeit outdated) annual search volume for a given domain name. And if you pay for GoDaddy Domain Discount Club Pro, you will see your 30-90-365 day search stats inside of your Afternic portfolio.

This was recently another hot topic when @Synozeer sold MindMesh for 150k using the massive search volume as a confirmation for his pricing and a demand indicator for the domain name. He obviously was very correct, and since I'd already been using GoDaddy search volume as confirmation for my buying decisions, I wanted to once and for all get an understanding of the actual relationship between GoDaddy's data and domain sales.
I attempted to do an export daily back then but got lazy and of course sold a few domains in between my lapses in exports. Since you can't see the data in your portfolio any longer once a name sells, daily exports are the only possible way to actively study this data. So I began again a few weeks ago after my last sale and have been exporting daily ever since.
In this 2 week time frame I've now sold 2 domains and logged their search stats at the time of sale, so I wanted to share this experiment to:
1. I commit to staying on top of my exports
2. Uncover as many data points as possible
3. See if anyone else in the industry wants to participate so that we can rapidly increase our understanding.
