I read some of the post this morning on contacting end users for sale of a domain name. I have one that I want to sell to end users and I have about 20 contact emails to send.

My question is though in writing the letter, should I have the domain name on ebay? As i read top sales for the week 90% seem to be on domain auction homes like Sedo, Moniker, Afternic etc. How is a end user supposed to understand how to "start a bid" just to send it to auction there?

And with ebay, I stand a chance (w/o a reserve) to get very low offers.

What are your suggestions please as to where to send the end user to buy the domain in auction format.

PS: Or better yet is it to have them make an offer? :|

If you are approaching End users - Do not send them to any sales sites .... That would seem very "Spammish" IMO.

If need be - You may have to refer them somewhere for an Escrow service eventually - But not for the initial approach.

Email does still work somewhat , But many are doing business on the Phone and through Snail Mail more and more. Emails are marked as spam and lost in the inbox too often (Especially when contacting Larger companies that receive thousands of emails per day).

Listings vs. selling

You don;t have to send it auction - you can just accept the offer made through your parking page. In fact, you don't have to send them to your parking page or to sedo, ebay etc. at all - you can accpet an offer like you would if you were selling anything else.

I would use someone's escrow service to make sure you get your money though (e.g. sedo).
