Contacted End User - Accept Offer or Counter ?

An end user replied to my email within 20 minutes and included an offer. Usually you get "how much" first, but this individual basically poo-pooed the fact it was .net, not .com but said "we'll offer up to $$$". Coincidently, he offered the price I was shooting for. Should I counter or just say "yes, that's acceptable". Seems eager if I just accept the first offer.

I've had this happen several times. Each time I countered and no deal. If you're happy with the price, I'd wait a couple of hours then respond with "that's acceptable".

Thanks, I'm leaning toward that also. One thing is I don't want the buyer to think "oh, did I offer too much" and back out if I respond too quickly and accept.

if you are contacting a legitimate enduser and they say we are willing to pay up to "this much", and that was how much you were HOPING to get out of it best case scenario, I myself wouldn't worry to much about them saying "hmm.... on second thought, I would like to drop my offer down to half of that" just because you accept..... in instances where I have had a solid offer from an enduser (that I contacted, rather than the other way around) that I attempted to negotiate up, it often has not gone as well as negotiating up a first offer when they did the reaching out...

If you are worried about the backing out/wanting to lower their offer (which I really doubt would happen), you can word it something like this:

"I really appreciate the prompt reply. Although your offer is somewhat lower than the target price, it certainly is respectable. So, to finalize a deal early and save additional time researching and contacting more potential buyers, I will accept your offer" (insert using such and such payment methods at your discretion....)

good luck and keep us posted!

Yep, accept. I still regret not having accepted some of the offers I got in the past. There's always a zillion other domains you could register and sell for the price you want. This one has a buyer - don't lose him!

I think you have your answer there.

Kinda weird, have not heard back from him.

Did you ever respond back with an "OK I'll take it?" or did you give them a counter offer?

I accepted the offer. Should I just resend the email or call him?

It's only been a couple days. Give it some time. Not everyone checks their email everyday.

Good Luck :)

Yeah, that is true. I'm paranoid about a buyer "messing" with me like people mess with telemarketers.

Most people rarely check their email or have many other email addresses so they forget to check.

Besides my main email address(which I check frequently), I rarely check my others.

I'd give it at least a week if I were you.

There are chances that he is mulling it all. Basically, he knows you're willing to accept his offer. Now, he's thinking, "Should I go through with this?" Sending another email now might make it sound like you're desperate. Give it about a week, then shoot him something like, "Just a friendly email to see if we're still on."
