I just got this wacky email today to my actual email address...
Has anyone else received this?

The subject title from the email is what I titled this O.P.

I only have a few transactions where members could have had my actual email address...
NP doesnt sell our email address' right???

Hello there,
I got exactly the same email yesterday. I have sent a PM to Mark because I wasn't sure if it would be appropriate to post it or not. It does look as if it is the start of a scam. I think we will have to wait and see if anyone has gone further, or received more follow up emails.
In my oppinion watch out.

Now to the sting

Hello All.

Here is the follow up email with the real scam disclosed. I got this even after saying I wanted no further communication. It's the old Bank Details Fraud; but I'm sure that they will catch someone. (Certainly not me or any NP members)

My dearest i am happy to receive your mail which gives me courage and joy.
Mine i am still in my painful situation hoping to have your helping hand . In this camp where i am seeking asylum , we are abolished from interacting with the citizens of the country , moreover we are not allowed to move out of the camp unless on the purpose of group evangelism.Its just like one staying in the prison and i hope by God grace i will come out here soon. I don't have any relative now whom I can go to all my relatives ran away in the middle of the war of which they may not still be alive, the only person i have now is our reverend who is the pastor of the (Christ The King Church) whom i am at his custody here in the camp he has been very nice to me since i came here but i am not living with him rather i am living in the women's hostel because the camp have two hostels one for men the other for women.
As a refugee here i don't have any right or privilege to any thing be it money or whatever because it is against the law of this country.I want to go back to my studies because i only attended my first year in the university before the tragic incident that lead to my being in this situation now took place.

Please listen to this because of my condition in this camp i cant wait to tell you this because i believe that God may use you to bring me out of this place,i have my late father's statement of account and death certificate here with me which i will send to you later, Because when he was alive he deposited some amount of money in a leading bank in which he used my name as the next of kin,the amount in question is $ 2.6M ( Two Million Six Hundred Thousand USA Dollars), Please i will like you to help me transfer this money to your account and from it you can send some money for me to get my traveling documents and air ticket to come over to meet with you. Note I kept this secret to people in the camp here the only person that knows about it is the Reverend because he is like a father to me and because of the warning my father left, that i should look for a trusted foreign partner who can assist me in investing this money .

So in the light of above i will like you to keep it to yourself and don't tell it to anyone for i am afraid of loosing my life and the money if people gets to know about it. Remember i am giving you all this information with the trust and love i deposited in you hoping that we will soon become one family ,i will also give you the contact of the bank for you to hear from them on how to transfer the money into your account ,i will also like to have your contact information's like.

I just did a little more research on the phone number. It is listed in Senegal. Here is a link to a site I found which is exposing scams. 419 Scam – Advance Fee Scam Phone Directory (Senegal) I didn't realise there were so many; but this guy is trying to track and expose them all. There are lots of different scams listed, along with all the names, addresses, phone numbers, emails, faxes, etc.

You're kidding right? NamePros does not sell or disclose member emails. The only way this could happen is if you did business with the member, posted your email on the forum, or you have "Allow Vcard" enabled.
