With so many extensions available for as less as 2 dollars hand registration, is the .COM living on borrowed time? In 10-15 years time will .LIFE be the same as .COM in valuation? Or is the .COM living on borrowed time just now...

I do not own the domain name s.top but I do own the domain names comis.top + comistop.top and, it may surprise you, comistop.com fort a reason (all three not for sale).

Imagine only .com would exist as TLD and what a monotonous world wide web this would be.

The best days of .com are gone, I am of those who aim for higher goals and I wish you all the best with your .com which is not top.

Do you know why most of us can't remember more than few phone number?

Most of us can't remember every domain extension, may be we domainer can because of our profession, you can't expect 6 billion people to remember every extension.

Valid points, however no one expects that the masses know all extensions, even most of domainers don't (me included).

For general public it either .com or their respective CCTLD nothing else.

If you tell them about .top they forget .com in the same moment.

Then, of course, they will remember .com again - but they will remember .top too (because "the whole world" knows the term "top").

And when they want a domain name then they will have to make a decision.

If they will choose .com, their domain name isn't and will never be top.

But if they choose .top, then their domain name is and will always be top.

I write whatever I want whenever I want wherever I want as long it is within the rules and whoever has a problem with it can react to it within the rules.

I further do not steal anything.

That being said, I read basically the same thing (".com is king") again and again across nP but instead complaining about it, I react to it (within the rules).

That being said, to say / write / do basically the same is not forcably bad - in opposite, if needed it is good. For example, it starts with your breath - its permanently the same.

This is "everyones" (and therefore also "my") thread and it was created by someone with the intention that others (and therefore also me) contribute to it.
That's what I do and it is ridiculess to accuse me of taking it over.
I do not hinder anybody to participate.

The question is about the status of the .com - market and the answer is that .com's king - status is the reason why it is not top.
