I'm considering of registering a domain but both the .com and .net are already taken. The domain has two words and both words are generic and no numbers. Which extension should I get (.biz, .us, or .info?) if I want to sell it in the long run? Why?

I prefer the .info as it is more universally accepted world wide.

It depends on the purpose of the site. If it's solely US focused and the generic keywords have a US flavour, I'd say .us.

If it's a commercial site where people will have accounts and buy something directly from you, I'd say skip the .biz and buy any made up word .com on the aftermarket. Bubu.com, Tongy.com etc etc will always be better for brandable commercial sites than a .biz or .info. You can trademark them and provided they are 4-6 letters long, pronounceable and memorable they are a good long term investment. If you first effort with Bubu.com failed the domain can always be recycled and used for something else.

If you're providing information free or charge and trying to make your money out of PPC or something similar, generic .infos win hands down. Overall, .info is preferable to .biz or .us. I'm a fan and an investor in the extension and think it will take second spot behind .com in terms of recognition, domains registered, and valuation in the next 5 years but .net followers will disagree so you get a different view from different people.

stick to the extension that is suitable.
Since you want these 2 words, and the com/net are taken, and you already have decided its between biz/us/info do the following.

for an Information site, go with .info (generally the strongest of these 3)
for a US based site, go with .US
for a business site (selling/b2b etc...) go with .biz
there is absolutely nothing wrong with .biz if it is a business site. Using .info for a business site IMHO is ridiculous.

.info or .tv if it's appropriate

.biz is the ugliest, .info is the strongest and will keep raising in the future, while .us is a big question mark, all depending if the US internet users will change their habits.

I never thought of it that way. You actually have a very good point regarding the .info, .us. and .biz extensions. Thanks You for your input. I will definitely keep your suggestions in mind when I buy, trade, and regged other extensions. I also want to say thank you to other people who responded to this thread.:D

I pretty much agree with seeker's post, although I also think that .info is a strong extension and would probably take it in addition to .biz or .us if I chose one of those for the primary site.

My experience with .biz has been lousy but then again...I only resell, not develop.
