Shen.com $125,000
QIKU.com $80,000
Ziyi.com $35,000

Generally speaking, Americans registered domains much earlier than Chinese. They may register CVCVs in last century or at the beginning of this century, but may not be aware that these domains can be very valuable.

E.g., QIKU and ZIYI may not have meanings in English, but have meanings in Chinese, sometimes Americans sold these domains very cheaply to Chinese.

Hi Zhifeng, are you based in China? I've always wondered how large the Mainland China domainer community is. Any chance you can shed some lights on this?

I'm based in Hong Kong myself btw.

Hi, dv82,

Yes. I am in Beijing. I am not sure about the size of mainland China domainers. There are almost no domain communities or trading portals which are in English.

In China, English words, Chinese Pinyin and decimals are all valuable. The priorities of top level domains may be:
(1) .com
(2) .cn/.com.cn
(3) .net
(4) .org

.co is not popular in China.

Well, the language barrier seems to be the main problem.

Yes, short numbers are very valuable in China. The reason is that the numbers are more easily read in Chinese than in English and numbers can suggest meanings in Chinese. E.g. 58.com means something like "I have a fortune or I am rich." and 1688.com (belongs to alibaba) means "being rich in one's life road" (something like this).

Let me give an example why numbers are more easily read in Chinese, e.g. 1688:

In Chinese, something like: yi lu fa fa (or yi liu ba ba), but
In English: one six eight eight.

Good afternoon dv82. Where are you now in Hong Kong?

I read some news in Baidu and learned that there were at least 250,000 professional domainers in mainland China in 2011, the number might be already doubled or tripled in the next 2 years, not so sure. :great:

Expect .cn/.com.cn can go TOP.

I'm in Kennedy Town / Sai Wan. What about yourself? Would you happen to have a link to that article mentioning the number of domainers in China?
