question Cheapest way to monitor whether emails were read?

What tools are you people using to see how many times an outbound email was opened? I've been using Zoho with my own custom domain so far, but I want to start keep tracking of how many times, if at all, leads are actually opening my emails. I think Zoho have a feature for this that's currently in Beta, but I don't know how reliable it is and I would prefer to use something that's more tested. Unfortunately because I haven't yet made my first sale I don't have the budget to spend a lot, so what's the cheapest way to do this at the moment?
