Is there a way for me to change my domain name once I have purchased it?

You can request your registrar to delete the domain for refund (upto 5 days from the date of registration). There are 50% chances they will comply (which they should, ideally). If they do, you can register a new domain.

ICANN allows registrars to delete 10% of their names every month for FREE - https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/agp-policy-2008-12-17-en

Refund policy also depends on registrar - where did you buy your domain @steven soto and what date did you buy it?

There are different rules for each TLD

If you used GoDaddy and it's a dot COM they have 5 day Grace Delete

In the good old days, you could delete as many as you wanted. You can register the domain, delete it an hour before it was 5 days old and than register it again. You can continue to do it and not pay anything for the domain (except for costs associated with running the server). Many people made a lot of money from it by parking the domains and never paying for them, registering and deleting hundreds of thousands of domain names; only to register them again.

It was called domain kiting

I didn't know about this ! Thanks

If the name is meaningful, it may be better to flip it in the namepros sales section, and just register another name.
