Hello, i am thinking about setting up a local registrar for my area and im wanting to know which is the best reseller for .com.au domains. The reseller account must be easy to use and customizeable and has the cheapest prices.

If anyone has any recommendations please post here.

Thanks

Morgan

But this page indicates they have a list of accredited registrars, where is the pricing list and registration page to register directly with the registry?

Of the accredited registrars I never tried any of them, and never heard much about them so no idea if they are reliable. I do see that the names of accredited registrars changed quite a bit since I last checked, so I did the right thing by opening a new topic on Israeli domains. The old .il topic (I think about 2 years old or so) seems outdated, there's some accredited registrars on the ISOC-IL site that weren't there last time I checked ...

Registering directly with the registry is maybe the best way to go, but I don't seem to find my way through the ISOC site ...

Here you can apparently register them directly at the registry, which I assume equals the most reliable and least-likely-to-go-bankrupt place to register them :) But it seems they aim at tech-savvy users, or is knowing how to set up an NS record enough to use them?

PS: 230 NIS = ca 44 โ‚ฌ .... Hmmm, I assume some of the accredited registrars are a LOT cheaper, however none of those accredited ones sounds familiar so how to know which one is reliable?

Gotta correct myself. On closer inspection, it's approx 44 euro for a 2 year period, so that comes down to ca 22โ‚ฌ per annum which I guess is reasonable. But the site says that it is intended for those knowing how to use a DNS properly. I am not very savvy when it comes to technical stuff, so I wonder if this wouldn't be beyond my skills ?

Any reliable registrar that has a user friendly control panel and is cheaper or not more expensive than the registry itself?

I don't think there is anything complicated. You just enter the desired DNS and that's it.

Not that it necessarily means they're good, but two of the accredited registrars (accredited by Israeli registry) are also ICANN accredited:

safenames.net (UK based, claim they never had a domain stolen or hijacked)
domainthenet.com (which, see price list, is the cheapest for .co.il : 17$ per year only)

Does anyone know if these are reliable registrars? I'd quite like an Israeli domainname, just seems like a step into the unknown because I never used any of these registrars...

United Domains (where I have some domains and am very happy of them) also offer .co.il but at 99โ‚ฌ per year so needless to say that's absurd when other registrars have it for 17 to 24 quid per year...

Nobody? :( Can at least someone confirm me if DomainTheNet.com is a reliable one? They seem to be ICANN accredited and offer the lowest price for .co.il registrations. Also, they're based in Israel itself which may be an advantage for registering this specific ccTLD.

Cheaper .gi domain registration?

Hi, I'm looking to register a .gi domain, but the only sites I've been able to find are 101domain, which is $175 per year and innter.net, which is $120 per year. Does anyone know a decent registration site with a better price? Thanks. :)

You need to take care .gi is only possible for companies registered in Gibraltar and for their own use only.

French people from metropolitan France cannot register .RE? That's odd because as far as I am aware it's administered by the same registry as .fr properly. So what about .pm and .tf and whatever ccTLD New Caledonia is using? All of those also French soil, but a person based in metropolitan France cannot get it?

By the way, Reunion is a tropical island with good standard of living, always good weather, very low crime rates, amazing beaches, ... Maybe consider moving there. You will live in paradise and at the same time you can register .re domains ; what do you want more? :)

Check the registry. Otherwise I'd not be sure where to go. Gibraltar is a very tiny British overseas territory with less than 30000 people living on it, so needless to say that it's a relatively obscure ccTLD. The interest from abroad in .gi is limited, hence why not many registrars will offer it. Maybe check if the registry doesn't list accredited registrars, I did the same when I decided I wanted an Israeli domainname. Maybe the Gibraltar registry also has some list of where you can buy it (or maybe you can buy it straight with them)

Well, I emailed DomainTheNet and must say their support was quite helpful and clear in their responses. Nonetheless I'm still not sure about their reputation and the likelihood of them staying around long term. Nobody who ever had any experience with them??

In the French Republic :

.FR of course

.PM (Saint Pierre and Miquelon) is under responsibility of the French Registry (AFNIC), but not in use, no plan to use it.

.TF (French Southern Territories) is under responsibility of the French Registry (AFNIC), I think it's in use but only allowed to scientific there are there. In fact there are only Scientifics or military and no civil allowed to living there.

.YT (Mayotte) is under responsibility of the French Registry (AFNIC), but not in use, they plan to use it many in few years. The administrative status of this Island will move to DOM (in French : over sea department) in 20111, Alls DOM by right are within the European Economic Community , (by now DMO are Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guyana, Reunion.

.NC (New Caledonia) is managed by โ€œOffice des Postes et Telecommunications de Nouvelle-Caledonieโ€. In use, but only allowed to corporate located there

.MQ (Martinique) are is managed by private company there โ€œSystelโ€, they suspended registration.
.GP (Guadeloupe) is managed by private company there, is open to everybody from anywhere , it's can be register here : Network Information Center .GP : Home

.RE (Reunion Island) is managed by the French Registry (AFNIC)
Reunion is located in Indian Ocean and itโ€™s within European economic community but not in European VAT area (Schengen), there are about 800 000 peoples living in Reunion.

For register .RE conditions are :
Owner MUST be
- Corporate register number with location in Reunion Island
Or
- If you are personal you must be located in Reunion and have a French trade Mark

To register, a possibility is to live In Reunion between mountain, Sea and volcano, if you come; youโ€™re welcome at home for toast Creole foods!
From Belgium I made this choice 15 years before :)

Another simplest solution is to use a local service in Reunion.
Search it on Google and also have a look to my signature

Bizarre that AFNIC only registers certain domains from the DOMTOM but not all. And very bizarre is that the actually populated St Pierre & Miquelon (who also get some tourism and have a few thousands regular citizens) see their .pm being unused while the .tf from a non-inhabited island is in use!

.TF used to be taken care of by Adamsnames a while ago, and back then you could buy a .tf name even if you were no scientist and had never visited Kerguelen before. I am not sure if the conditions are still the same. But Ulimit.com still offer .be.tf subdomains (URL redirections) and as far as I know there are much such free subdomains in use than people registering a real .tf domain (they were quite pricy to begin with)

Some years ago, AFNIC ask with local chamber of commerce, local politic (region, department) what they want to do for manage their dot and regarding the naming policy to make.

Because in Antilles (Martinique, Guadeloupe), some important part of people there want more autonomy from France, that the raison AFNIC do not manage it.

That's you must understand is in past, all DOM have been in a human slavery period, but after this period the history was not the same for all DOM.
In Reunion there was a economical crisis and colon were as poor as old slave. Consequence of this is since many generation Reunion is full mixed community/families between (European, African, Asian, Indian,...) for this reason there no special stress in Reunion regarding France metropolitan. In fact Reunion is maybe one of the French Region there are so many people from here in the French army, people here are very French patriotic and never ask some autonomy or special arrangement for them, they just want to be exactly a French region like any other they protested very much for that and they got.

In Antilles, yes there are mixed but not so may as Reunion. Economic power is still under hand of old colon family. For this reason they want more autonomy special adaptation from FRANCE to manage more politic power from here, there are also autonomist party (not majority, but important).

New Caledonia et Polynesia have both a local government, there are TOM (over sea territories) , In past there was hurts in New Caledonia for asking full autonomy, like Antilles old colon donโ€™t mix them not many. But since these hurt there was many billions investment there from FRANCE. And they have been with many referendum but still now, they decide to rest in FRANCE.

French Southern Territories administration is located in Saint-Pierre la Rรฉunion, lasts year many new scientific stations were build, it's possible there are just few less people here than St Pierre & Miquelon but there are. In this part of the ocean there are many fish, and France and Australia were increasing to ban pirate from here. Many boat were confiscate and parked in reunion.
Regarding .TF I have not many information, I heard that scientific working on project about French Southern Territories can get it, there is no obligation to be located here. Maybee some scientific are doing domain business on sub domain.

PS: don't use Communigal - they have always been crap in general.

Just my two cents. I had bunch of names with them and hadn't any issue with them. Support is rather helpful there and price is good; immediate free internal push is available which is good imho.
