I've been trying to register a .ga domain name for a while now (the registrar is my [dot] ga, and its operated by freenom), but I've been running into problems while trying to register sites. The freenom registration page doesn't work, and when I press "submit", it just reloads the current page and doesn't do anything.

I really want to get this domain up (Im on a deadline), and I've emailed all the emails I can find (three addresses split between Freenom and the "my ga" website, but none of them have replied since I emailed them (on wednesday). I am really disappointed with this poor service, especially since I'm willing to pay for a domain! Its amazing how hard it can be to get someone to take your money!

Anyways, now that I'm done with my rant, I thought I'd ask here: Has anyone ever had any success with registering a .ga domain? Are there any suggestions on what I could do to get this domain registered faster ? I have a deadline on the 10th, so the current rate things are moving is going to be too slow.

Thanks!

Out of curiosity is there a reason why you have to go with the .ga extension? Is the name you are trying to register taken in every other extension?

I want to register a site for my personal use which has the domain of my last name, which ends in 'ga', so that its as if there's no TLD (much like the slid.es).

Well I have never used them but have you tried 101domain.com?

Unless the TLD is under new management I would stay away from .ga.
The extension is very unstable, and has been down for weeks if not months, due to poor management. That was not so long ago.
I hope you are not setting up a critical project on a .ga domain.

So you don't recommend going with .ga? It would be really cool to get it if I can, especially if I'm able to register it for free through Freenom (I'm not sure I'd pay ~$25 a month for a domain with lots of downtime).

EDIT: Also, it looks like maybe the .ga domains have recently started being administrated together with Freenom (I can't post a link, but most articles talking about Gabon's free domain name were posted on Sept 3, 2013, about a month ago), so maybe it's going to be better? Do you know anything about Freenom?

i have several .ga domains, including some premium registrations. mine are all through 101domain. you may want to email their support 1st to see if the name you want has premium pricing.

pm me if you have any questions.
