As you know, .ML/.GA domains recently went live.

I registered a bunch of .ml/.ga domains at 12 GBP each, but later (maybe in one-two weeks) was approached by my registrar saying that .ML/.GA "registries" listed all but one domains I registered as "special" with pricing starting from 100 GBP to 400 GBP.

So I requested to cancel all those registrations except one .ml which was "not" listed as special.

Now, after more than a month since I registered remaining .ml domain, I was approached again with the same news: .ML "registry" listed this remaining domain as a "special" and demanded 150 GBP.

Never seen such behavior before. Anyone was able to register anything worth keeping at "standard" price with these .ML/.GA morons?

Their pricing is stupid and uncompetitive. I doubt they'll get anyone to pay their "special" prices.

Are they serious with their prices??

They are setting themselves up for failure.

It seems they are looking at what names people are interested in by setting low "standard" price and letting people to register them. Then, after people registered some domains, they announce registered names are listed as "special" and try to charge higher prices on already registered and paid domains. Of course, there was no pre-published list of "special" domains. In my case, one of .ml domains was listed as "special" after more than a month passed since the time of registration. Moreover, it was not listed as "special" during their first attempt to charge me with higher fees week or two after I registered few .ml domains. Greed and BS as they are.

What would you expect from the largest spam holding ccTLD (in other words dot.tk) managers?

Register them directly with Freenom.com. I was able to grab two superpremiums for just 9.95 € each: Business.GA and Insurance.GA. Anyway it seems many high quality keywords are for sale by the same registry at a "premium" fee (3 or 4 figures). Personally, I would avoid spending such amounts with a shady company that could vanish at any moment.

That's interesting. I would expect them approaching you requesting to pay "premiums" with time, though. It is what my post about.

By registering at Freenom (they should be the same company running the registry), you know in advance how much you're paying for them. If you search, there should be a couple of premiums left for sale at 9.95 €.

OK, thanks for info.

I checked few that I registered and later left, they are still "premium", although they are much weaker than say business.ga.

Yes, I was surprised to see some average quality names for 150+ € while some huge keywords for 10€.

I guess some of those "average" domains were registered at the opening but later cancelled when these .GA registry morons came with their "premium" fee BS
