You can still sell them, but you have to list them as "classified ads" which costs about $10 for 30 days ad and hardly anybody will even see it so I think it's safe to say that you can no longer sell domains on ebay after March 31st.

Thankyou very much 'ecalc' for providing the link

But it does say: Digital Downloadable Goods in Classified Ads Format Only

Domain names are not a digital downloadable good, so hopefully this is just to stop ebooks being sold on ebay

My conclusion from reading: I think domain names will go on selling on ebay auctions, I think there will be no difference to domain name selling on ebay as domains are not downloadable and domain names are not free of cost to the seller

a quote further down says: all goods that can be digitally downloaded or transferred electronically

'Not happy Jan', come on ebay grow a brain, domain names are not even close to related to ebooks

Anyone contacted eBay staff about this and got a response? If this is true it should hurt some eBay domain sellers quite significantly.

List the domain as property and create a "deed" (copy of registration) for the name. When you sell the name mail the "deed" to the new owner.

The name is not transfered digitally (although you'll need to update the who-is and push to new account) because you have a deed/bill of sale/origination letter/title what ever.

I'd explain better buy I'm tired

Sounds simple to me

ebay has always sucked ever since they made it a requirement that you can only pay electronically through paypal.

Corporations grow more evil by the day. Stop supporting them!

Hello...This is Brian Burke, Director Global Feedback Policy. Digital goods are often reproduced at little to no cost to the seller. On eBay, this creates the potential for Feedback Manipulation (both real and perceived). To preserve the integrity of the Feedback system, effective March 31 all goods that can be digitally downloaded or transferred electronically must be listed using the Classified Ads format.
Using the Classified Ads format, sellers receive a 30-day ad at a fixed price. This solution enables sellers to continue to market their digital goods on eBay; however, because Classified Ad listings are a lead generation tool and do not result in transactions that go through eBay, Feedback cannot be exchanged between buyer and seller.

Sellers who wish to continue to offer digital goods can do so by selecting the Everything Else>Information Products category in the Sell Your Item form and choosing the Classified Ads format (not auction-style or fixed price). For more information about the Classified Ads format, please read Advertising with Classified Ads.

I am part of a huge domain name forum, and there is a heated topic about this announcement. Does this apply to domain names???
11:34:55 PM Christian Me.
Yes, please continue. I'm listening.
11:35:31 PM Christian Me.
May I ask what forum is that? You may want to provide the link.
11:36:53 PM RR
Sure, but do you know the answer to my question. It should be a simple ques. The domain forum name is NamePros.com
11:38:16 PM Christian Me.
Yes, I understand that. However, we have different announcements here. What exact announcement are you referring into?
11:40:07 PM RR
digital items need to be listed as 30 day listings with a fixed price only, and no feedback will be exchanged...So, my question to YOU...Are domain Names lumped into this category, also?
11:41:32 PM RR
Hello?
11:42:01 PM Christian Me.
At, I see.
11:42:11 PM RR
What???
11:42:35 PM Christian Me.
No, domain names are not included there.
11:42:49 PM Christian Me.
However, we have a recent technical issue when listing on categories under Everything Else.
11:42:51 PM RR
Are you positive???
11:43:15 PM Christian Me.
Some members are receiving error messages about Digital Items. Our Technical team is working on it already.
11:43:21 PM Christian Me.
Yes, I'm positive on it.
11:43:31 PM RR
So what category are we going to use for sales of domain names?
11:44:32 PM Christian Me.
You may use this category: Computers & Networking > Web Domains & Services > Domain Names > .com
11:44:36 PM RR

Now let's hope the guy that makes $7 an hour, know's what he was talking about... lol :tri:

The chat guy may 'not' know what he was talking about, but the fact 'domains names' has its own sub section in the 'computers and networking' section 'may' (hopefully) give domain names a more solid foundation on ebay than to ebooks and other such items (I mean ebay management can't be that naive right, about domain names). Guess we will have to wait till the 1st of April to see what really happens

I was getting conflicting news as well on this.
Only way to 'really' know is to wait til Mar 31 / Apr 1.

I think we should be 'ok'
