:hi:

This is going to be my 1st post over here. I'm quite new about domaing and all. What I have to ask you people is ...

I registered a domain name with GoDaddy.com yesterday. I want to make sure whether I can put it on Sedo.co.uk for sale today. Is there anything wrong about it?

The reason being that one of my collegues did the same. He got his domain on GoDaddy.com and instantly put it on Sedo.co.uk. Changed his nameservers to that of sedo. Surprisingly enough, they cancelled out his order and refunded him. :'(

Any quick response would be highly appreciated.

...there had to be other factors involved..

To answer your question Yes you can put it right in your sedo account...

I've only been getting into this domaining stuff recently, so my opinion is probably off mark... but I don't see an issue with this.

He paid his money, and the transaction was completed. It's upto him what he does with the domain after it's purchased.

Mid you, it is a bit like buying a MacDonalds and eating it in a Burger King.

I have had a similar thing happen to me, it had nothing to do with Godaddy or Sedo.. What happened (in my case) was it was when I was watching drops closely (when a reasonable number used to slip through the net). A name dropped and I rushed over to Godaddy and registered it, everything said 'congrats you have the name' but it didn't appear in my account, then about three hours later I got an email through saying sorry, here is a refund. Basically, I wasn't the only one watching the name and I was beaten to the reg. โ€“ these things happen, maybe your friend just got unlucky!

And as everyone else has said, there is no problem in transferring nameservers immediately, I do it all the time (otherwise I would forget! ;) )

^^ - Bad analogy imo, Sedo and Godaddy offer completely different service and are not in competition like MD and BK are.

I always park them straight away - no problems doing it yet :)

Yes - Yes - Yes

I've parked over 30 at Sedo seconds after Reg at GoDaddy. I did have a problem once when the domain at previously been Regd. and parked at Sedo. Sedo still had it in their data base even though it had no owner. Good Luck!

sometimes sedo will have the domain on hold while they are checking out the ownership, so best to wait maybe 24 hours after regging for sedo listing.

You can add them directly in you SEDO account.
Sometimes SEDO checks the ownership and you will a receive a e-mail.
Then you have to send a e-mail from that domain or change the nameservers
to SEDO so they can see you really own the domain name.(by traffic)
(you could also mail them to check the whois ;) ) lol

coming back to your quesion: there is no problem adding a domain name that is yours

was it godaddy refunded one of your colleagues? i don't believe so godaddy doesn't support refunds on domain registered with them. there's nothing wrong with parking it on sedo.co.uk, as you have registered the domain and it's yours for the years you paid for it. only wrong if it's tm infringement, copright infringement, spam abuse, etc. but as far as godaddy/sedo are concerned you're the owner of the domain, you can do anything you're please with it and profit with it. :imho:

Thanks everyone.

As a matter of fact, he *mistakenly* used a different country proxy while making the transaction with his own CC. So, they took it as a fraudulant activity and cancelled out his order and refunded...

That's what I think seems to be the case! Anyway, thanks for your valuable replies. :)

I dont think that should be a problem? I person can be abroad while registering the domain from his own credit card, must have been some other problem
