Can anybody recommend a good word list manager?

I'm trying to find software that will let you work with word lists.

In particular I'm looking for something that will let you sort words from long lists based on different criteria.

Not alphabetically, I can already do that. I want something that will sort lists by the length of the word or number of characters.

Can anybody point me in the right direction? Thanks.

Microsoft excel has addons (And maybe some that come with the program in newer versions?) that will do what you are looking for.

Thanks. I'll have to spend some time looking around the MS website. I didn't see anything in the office download section and I cannot figure out how to do it with my current Excel setup.

Not sure how familiar you are with Excel's functions, but there is one called LEN that returns the number of characters in a given text string. By inserting the LEN function in each cell of a column adjacent to your word list column (insert the function once, then cut and paste for the entire length of your word list column), you'll now have a character count for each word. Now you can sort your word list by number of characters.

Hope this helps

Good Luck,

I do all that stuff in Access with SQL queries. I download expiring domain lists all the time and sort them by Length or TLD and filter out ones with numbers and hyphens.

I wasn't familiar with that function. That was too easy! Wecome to NamePros Sean! I've added to your Rep points.
