Can a closed profile have a valid bid at an auction?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

There was one account @Shop owner

He was bidding like a mad man everywhere.

I would like to do know why it says “disallowed”
    What’s the other account?

I do not know what other accounts he has, but think it strange that NamePros still thinks his bid is valid?

Has anyone reported it to the mods though?

I've reported it 5x. Same answer. Allowed. Very bizarre.

    From NamePros Support yesterday:

"A closed or restricted account still must honor the binding purchase agreement if they win and make payment / The seller may report the winner if they fail to pay and we can get more involved"

It's bizarre but not uncommon. There's more than meets the eye beyond some of the NP user accounts if you pay close attention to it.

Hmm. Care to elaborate. I'm somewhat of a newbie here.

Well, if Shop Owner wins, he or she better cough up their bid!

    Hello,

Even if/when an account is restricted or closed, the purchasing/bidding member is still bound to any purchase agreements they made prior to the restriction or closure.

If an auction has ended or received a sold post by a member with a restricted or closed account and they have not responded or paid for the domain, please add a @Echo Mod Team to that direct message so we can investigate and get more involved.

    Related/Official use ONLY: https://www.namepros.com/reports/54649/

    Thanks

    This seems illogical?

    Am I missing something here?

Example: Sometimes, business members may also have a personal free account. They may not be using their personal account for conducting business, however, they have been using the gold account for business. In this example, the gold accounts subscription may have expired and the account would need to be closed due to the following: All members may have 1 free personal or blue account and unlimited Gold accounts as long as all accounts are in good standing.

Since the example member no longer has a gold account, they can only have the free personal or blue account.

Just because they let the Gold subscription expire does not mean they can just back out of binding purchase agreements. Even with the Account closed title, they must still honor the agreement they entered into.

    That's just one scenario.

We hope that helps clarify a bit more.

As those of us who run the auction want to avoid shenanigans like this, I feel we have the right to cancel their bid once we see the account is terminated, especially from a new account with no ratings..!?!

This particular user in question has caused a major energy leak for a few of us here

When it comes to auctions, neither a buyer or seller may back out of a binding auction agreement.

However, a seller could clearly state prior to the auction starting (No bids yet) in their guidelines that any closed or restricted accounts may no bid in the auction. Furthermore, if an account is to be restricted or closed during an active auction with a bid from them, it will be voided.

The following rules apply to your inquiry:
Rule: 6.2.9 applies to adding a guideline to decline a bid.

I make a mention that bidders need 15+ to make sure their bids qualify unless they DM me first for approval.....

So this protects me the seller from this scenario and I can void the bid from a closed account with less than 15 ratings - yes?

Requiring 15+ positive trade reviews is clear and reasonable, with an option to DM for approval, sure. Keep in mind, of you approve them and their account is restricted/closed after said approval, it's still binding, unless you also clearly state in your guidelines that bids from a restricted/closed account will be voided.

You can have them agree to that in the DM prior to approval as well.

However, keep in mind that the bidder may add a moderator team to the DM you gave approval in, in the event there is a dispute regarding the validity of their bid.

    Thanks,

This sounds like a notation I'll be sure to add to auctions

Sure. Without going into specifics. People being banned, resurfacing under different usernames. Multiple accounts being misused although totally abiding by NP rules. For one they should rethink their Gold subscribtion multiple accounts allowance.... It leaves soooo much room for shady stuff.

For a professional forum its way too easy to manipulate the forum rules.
