I am new to this whole domain name thing and before i decided to do mass amounts of research on this subject i decided to spent $12 and register igogreen.ca. I have yet to come across any .CA sites that were worth anything. So my question is can i kiss my $12 goodbye?

Depends on which registrar you bought the domain at. You can always contact them and ask for a refund!.

If the entire domain learning process only costs you $12, then you should feel blessed!

Come back in a year and let us know how the learning process went for you. Let us know how much money you spent on domain names and how much money you made in sales.

As with any new business or career, there is a learning curve and it may cost you money.

Enjoy

Eric

I have yet to come across any .CA sites that were worth anything.

Based on these sales of 2011 somebody thinks .ca domains have value

venture.ca $32,500 2011-02-25
vert.ca $7,595 2011-02-18
onlinecasinos.ca $28,000 2011-01-29
yourmoney.ca $8,000 2011-01-27
horseracing.ca $19,000 2011-01-20
cleanenergy.ca $10,000 2011-01-15
mazda3.ca $9,000 2011-01-10
cpap.ca $5,000 2011-01-08
coupon.ca $75,600 2011-01-03

But "igogreen.ca" ??? yup you can kiss that $12.00 goodbye. Or develop it into a site that ecologically friendly canadians will want to visit.

.ca's are a nightmare. Good luck in finding a buyer there are only about 200 of them and in 20 years there maybe 400!
stick to .com's as a newbee either that or key words.

You are obviously looking in the wrong places.

Long term you may come out ahead. You have lots of work to do,though.I have owned over 500 .ca domains and the market is very small compared to .com or .net/org and imo there are so many .ca names available still. I let some drop I thought were good and 6 months later they are still un reg'd
You could develop your name very well and get some positive results, you need some fresh content,a sedo parked page never liked them myself.go to whypark.com open a free account and play around learning the system with this name learn for the future. And read every post here, every thread.
My .ca I am keeping for long term, a couple .ca i own are Sunny,Fuelinjector, fuelinjectors,
No traffic,no offers for injector sites but I havent developed them,Sunny I am spending alot of time and money, adding youtube videos, original content and my alexa.com rank has gone from 18,000,000 down to 8,000,000 awesome so happy with that. Any name can be worth something, its how much effort you put into it.So go develop it,learn about developing it,and watch sales at dnjournal.com I have thrown away 1000's of dollars lol if you threw away 12 very inexpensive mistake but you can benefit from it by learning.
Cheers from Bc,eh

I couldn't even sell my three letter.ca domain. There's no market, as small business will simply use a deviation of a key word.

Just look around your city, there's all sorts of three and four word .ca domains.

There is no .ca market for re-sellers.

You lost $12? I think I lost about $800, before I left the domaining game.
