.ca domains for US citizens

I just registered with a canadian registrar under my US address. Will I be safe if I transfer a domain into my account with a US address?

If not, what are some ways to hold .ca domains, while residing in the US?

If you put a Canadian address you will be fine.

You are treading a fine line. My partner loves to tell his tale of getting his wanted domain in just this way... He offered to buy the .ca domain from someone sitting on it - they wanted far beyond what it was worth. He did some digging and found they did not meet Canadian residence requirements - contacted CIRA and they lost the domain - he later picked it up in the drop.

I doubt he is the only one doing it. If your domain has value you are more of a target.

If you put a Canadian address you will be fine.

That might shake some, but as my example shows - someone determined to get your domain is going to prove that you have no right to the .ca domain - and you will lose it.
