Hello I had sold a domain for mid 4 figures. They were about 13 bidders on the domain.

The auction ended last week and was going through escrow. The buyer hadn't paid since over a week.I pmed Joe Stuler regarding this and he told me that the buyer has been banned from auction due to not paying for other domains.

Not sure what to do now as I had put a lot of effort in promoting the auction. Can GoDaddy restart the auction with Same bidders?

they probably can start another auction, but unless they contact previous bidders, then how will they know?

Exactly ,did this happen to anyone else here?

Not much you can do other than restarting a new auction.
Previous bids are voided once they are beat so previous bidders are not binded to their bids anymore.

It happened to me in the past. The winner never paid. After a while the auction is simply cancelled and I had to restart a new one.

yeah it has happened to me at GD.. winning bidder got his account closed and my time was wasted.

you paid for the featured listing and reserve so your money got wasted too. Ask for refund

Well I was told that this happens rarely .Shouldn't have sold at GoDaddy in the first place.

It can happen at any marketplace, as far as I know. It happens at NP regularly.

It has happened to me here. Really stinks when it happens. Messes things up. I reposted one of them, and it ended for much less.

I understand what you went through; just keep in mind this kind of situation just part of business. And always be ready for it. Never count eggs before it hatches. In any event, hope Joe will help you on what to do next..

Marketplaces need to come up with a system which prevents a bidder from not paying for a auction he won.. like requiring bidders to pre-fund their marketplace accounts, restricting bids of $xxxx unless a history of purchases at that particular marketplace, etc.

This can be done and easy to say. We also need to take a good consideration that there is some laws rules that we have to follow..

Right, they are not binded, but still they might want to get this domain, right? Why not? And clearly an auction has all the database, so GD in this case might just contact the bidders.

That doesn't sound right at all. I've been offered domains on GoDaddy Auctions after the winning bidder didn't pay. These were Expiring Domain Auctions. They may have different rules for Private Auctions.

I sold a domain on GD auction and it's been 20 days and they still haven't paid. It's extremely frustrating dealing with these deadbeats!

@deflee79, do you mean you gave your domain to the buyer, without paying?

No.. that's impossible. Godaddy has full control over the process of transfer after payment has been made. Until they pay for the domain it sits in limbo for 30 days.>:(

20 days, I will move on.... Put your domain back for sale. You are losing revenue that way..

I think 2 to 3 days wait for payment is reasonable. 30days...this is too long. You can go for 2 weeks vacation and come back still don't get your funds. ...

30days to receive payment, so if buyer does pay; then you have to wait for your funds to be transfer to your account; so this is another 10days? This is a long paused!!

Serious buyer will pay immediately, or within 24 hours of winning the auction...

Frustration is so visible...
