1st thing: I DO NOT own this domain and DO NOT know the owner so im not mentioning this to help promote the sale.

I thought i would highlight this domain on Sedo as it is almost a Geo (would we call British a Geo? probably not but almost!) It has traffic and has a developed site.

With all the UK Geo's being owned by people like me who wont be selling anyttime soon then it makes me wonder if British.tv has any real worth. Would an owner who cant get England.tv for less than $xx,xxx go for British.tv instead?? (i wouldnt but hey you gotta ask)

Its an interesting sale to me, has a lot of plus point with traffic, very brandable...etc
Its at 510 Euros right now = $734

How much is it worth right now??

I could imagine it being sold for low-mid $x,xxx (maybe a lot more if there are more than one end user, and they start a bidding war.)

British.TV has $3,000 yearly renewal fee according to ahead.tv.

$3k per year renewal!!! :td:

If it was standard reg fee then i would think it would get $2k - $3k
Since it is $3k year renewal then $500 - $750
(hope buyer knows the renewal fee as i cant remember it being on Sedo listing)

wow, i wouldnt touch it with a barge pole now.
I pay something like $300 per year renewal with Scotland.tv, i expected Brittish to be cheaper than Scotland but thats how this crazy premium pricing works.

I was going to say it will get $2k but not i know the renewal then i think it will sell for the 1st bid of 510 euros (hope buyer knows the renewal fee as i cant mind it being on Sedo listing)
I kind of feel sorry for the guy that is selling the name, I don't disagree with you in the least bit, and I am not knocking anyone, but I'm sure the negative talk can't help the sellers gain :hehe:

3k a year. Wow.

That's rich. Hope he or she can at least recoup some of those yearly fees.

I have looked at the lists and the discounts you can get on these gem names on the lists

I am waiting for that name I completly want weather it be a private sale or a cheap yearly expense. I don't own any pre. Domains as of yet and I am happy I am not scrambling each year to pay for these names just to renew them.

Wish the seller well.

rumors move fnancial markets, whats the difference here, its the market finding a common ground.

Not too nice for the seller, but that is part of the risk we all take when we get involved with risk.......

I edited my earlier post to remove my personal feeling on this domain now i know the renewal as i dont want to influence anyones opinions on this names worth at all.

Though i think it should be noted again that on the Sedo listing their is NO mention of $3k renewal (I Hate that, tell truth up front or buyer will potentially walk away)

I Hope this Sale does well, anything even close to a UK Geo .tv sale has me wishing for high sales. :)

** I just checked the other UK names that compare to this to see how high renewal is:
English.tv renewal $4,000
Irish.tv $4,000
Scottish.tv $500
Welsh.tv $1,000

All pretty high renewals, Personally i would always take Scotland.TV or Scottish.TV for example.
But i hope it goes for a decent amount,

This really does need looking at,people should be honest and put it in the description.

I dislike the most when people DONT post the renewal price whenever they list domains to auctions

Auction is over, it sold for 560 Euros ($820 approx)

Now its over then i can say "I wouldnt touch that domain with such a rediculously high renewal fee!"

Hope the buyer has a plan to make the $$$'s for renewal.

Swedish.tv $1750 premium Verisign should have these non premium IMO

Bets on if sale goes through ? No doubt buyer does not know the $3000 premium renewal.

Not if it's legit, someone is willing to pay $3k per year for this name that is a good thing imo.

However if (as is more than likely) as Ray says that the buyer doesn't know about the $3k renewal then it will not go through.

Just as a note, the guy who bid on ni.tv asked me which registrar provides accurate whois and shows premium reg fees, i replied through afternic, so i am not sure if my reply got back to him,as they probably will not be to keen for him to look up whois records for himself, and then maybe cutting out Afternic.
But my point is that there are people out there bidding on these names without knowing how to check reg fees, and it is vital that people put the Premium renewal fees in the description.

Yep! Assuming buyer doesn't know the Premium renewal, it will go down something like this after payment to Sedo....

Sedo asks buyer which registry the domain is to go and buyer nominates eNom, he will then have no idea until he tries to renew. However, if buyer nominates any other registry then Sedo will not be able to comply and that is when the buyer will find out and the sale will not complete ... IMO of course!

British.tv properly developed could be quite profitable and the 3k/year reg would be a manageable expense. Now on pure speculation or just to flip, 3k doesn't look so good.

Maybe I'm off in my assessment, but woudn't the term "British" be prime, and also a nice fit for the .TV extension?

Its not bad IMO Carlton, Britishtv.com is parked at Fabulous, Britishtv.co.uk does not resolve, I own the .org

$3000 is a lot IMO

With respect. It is not a selling tool, by adding the premium price to a domain name, prior to someone having interest in the domain.. It is called sales.

As in any sales business, you hype the name, you get some one interested and then you go through the terms and conditions.

Of course you let them know the renewal fee, but first get the punter in the door, before you hit him with the price. It creates one on one discussion and then it is up to you as a sales person to make the sale.

"Hi John, thank you for the interest in my domain name. It really is well priced even with the premium renewal fees, but that is why its available at this price. It is very rare and as you may realize the .com of the same domain name sold for $$$$$$$ last year. In contrast this domain with the $500 per year renewal fee is a bargain!"

You get my meaning I think.

There is always fine print in any business, you read that last, it is not a selling point.

Marketing 101 really. You don't put the sign in front of your home with "for sale, this home is great, but the council rates here are the most expensive in the state"

Again with respect to you.

:)
